A Brief Overview This position involves hands-on care for patients in a variety of research studies. Services include vital signs, injections, infusions, EKG, IV placement and other procedures that are within the scope of practice of a nurse. Patients range in age from 0-80 years old. This position is on-site 5 days per week. Nurses will coordinate all clinical research activities with minimal supervision. Assignments will include more complex studies that require a nurse's clinical expertise. This position successfully implements clinical research projects and protocols including assisting CHOP research teams in cutting edge pediatric research protocols, trials and novel disease treatments, and documents all information as required by the protocol(s).

What you will do Expected to Perform all CRC Core responsibilities as detailed for CRNC I: * Applies in depth knowledge of clinical research and coordinates conduct of complex studies * Develop CHPS Study Report Forms * Act as liaison for research subject, investigator, IRB, sponsor, and healthcare professionals * Document investigational product (drug/device) accountability * Perform routine quality assurance and compliance checks throughout the study * Assists other team members by educating, providing resources, and consulting on difficult protocols or projects * Understand good clinical practice (GCP) and regulatory compliance * Comply with Institutional, federal, state, and sponsor policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines Performs clinical nursing research functions that are required by research protocols. * Performs clinical nursing research functions that are required by research protocols. * Able to provide effective nurse coverage in all Center areas; takes role in providing protocol support in area specific to experience, i.e., inpatient, outpatient, scatterbed. * Understands diagnosis and pertinent medical findings, rationale, goals in treatment, and nursing care in research protocols. * Provides nursing care to research families in a professional, organized manner. * Provides laboratory services when appropriate, including basic processing off hours. * Provides a therapeutic environment through safe, accurate and timely medication administration, including oral, IV, IM and SQ medications. * Utilizes nursing processes to facilitate the implementation of the research study and to ensure quality patient care is provided throughout the episode of care. * Ensures that accurate, dependable data is documented. * Demonstrates through practice and supervision, principles of infection control and universal precautions, adherence to OSHA standards, hazardous material guidelines, and isolation procedures. * Collects and compiles appropriate data from examinations and lab tests. * Completes research study sheets and maintains files for clinical studi s in an accurate and timely manner. Putting requested data into EPIC chart. * Communicates study progress and problems with immediate supervisor, study coordinator and principal investigator as needed * Tracks protocol activity and subject activity in subject census tracking system in real time. * Uses hospital electronic systems for reviewing data when necessary. * Attends educational sessions, and trainings that are pertinent to current protocols. Carefully reviews all studies approved in the Center and has a good understanding of the requirements of each study: * Reviews all new research protocols with team to establish an understanding of the research protocol and to facilitate the research study. * Reviews protocols and notifies appropriate staff or investigator of any potential implementation problems. * Attends/participates in start-up and in-services for new protocols; Meets with study team, provides feedback to study team and other staff as to best practices for successful implementation of the protocol. * Maintains appropriate files, reviews patient data and findings with Nurse Manager and informs the team of activities, problems, and goals Education Qualifications Technical Diploma in Nursing Required Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred

Experience Qualifications At least three (3) years of nursing experience Required At least three (3) years of research experience Preferred

Skills and Abilities Clinical Research Nurse responsibilities include but are not limited to CHOP mandatories and competencies for nurses, physical assessment, vital signs, administering investigational drugs and accessing lines for labs and pharmacokinetic sampling. Basic proficiency with research databases

Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - within 12 months - Required or Registered Nurse (New Jersey) - New Jersey State Licensing Board - within 12 months - Required Nursing Temporary Practice Permit (New Jersey) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required or Nursing Temporary Practice Permit (Pennsylvania) - New Jersey State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - upon hire - Required
