The H ousekeeping Manager is responsible to make a compelling difference in the lives of our residents through providing excellence and innovation in aging services. The Housekeeping Manager reports directly to the Director of Facility Operations and is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of housekeeping throughout the community including the health care center, personal care and residential apartments. Provides direct leadership and guidance to housekeeping staff to ensure that a high level of cleanliness, quality and service is achieved and maintained and is in compliance with the PA Department of Health and the Department of Public Welfare regulations.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct leadership and guidance to the housekeeping staff by establishing specific standards, measurable team goals and objectives that ensure a clean and sanitary environment throughout the community.

  • Plan and coordinate special projects with other departments. Projects may include but are not limited to; room renovations, resident move-ins, special interior re-design, special function set-ups.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations, including the Department of Health and the Department of Public Welfare

  • Communicates, supports and implements department and community procedural and/or program changes to department staff.

  • Participate in staff selection process. Interviews candidates for employment.

  • Plans and coordinate department routine work and special projects tasks and schedule. Establishes cost effective and efficient staffing levels.

  • Schedules department staff work hours and time off to ensure facility needs are met. Monitors time and attendance system for department staff. Approves time records for biweekly payroll.

  • Ensures staff receive appropriate community and department orientation and training.

  • Monitors department supplies/equipment inventory and purchased appropriate levels as needed. Issues supplies and equipment to staff. Ensures staff are properly trained on the use of supplies and equipment.

  • Ensure department equipment is maintained in good working order. Obtains and schedules maintenance of equipment as needed.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Related Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience overseeing housekeeping operations in a health care facility.

  • Minimum two (2) years managerial experience.

  • Ability to manage work schedules; knowledge and understanding of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and regulatory compliances.

  • Knowledge and hands on experience with use of professional cleaning supplies.

  • Experience in Microsoft applications and computerized time and attendance systems.

    Education or Degree Requirement:

  • None

    Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:

  • Registered Executive Housekeeper (REH) or Certified Executive Housekeeper (CEH) a plus.
