Audacy General Assignment Reporter (Part Time) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Overview
KYW Newsradio is a trusted news source with nearly 1 million weekly listeners who rely on us for the latest local, national and international news, as well as weather, sports, and traffic updates.
We’re looking for a part-time general assignment reporter for broadcast and digital, who can excel in on-the-ground reporting in Philadelphia.
The deal candidates will have a minimum of 3+ years experience reporting for a news organization, be able to work in a hybrid digital/broadcast environment, and have excellent news judgment.
Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
Produce and record news segments for KYW Newsradio
Gather, write, record, edit and deliver news content including live coverage during breaking news
Maintain general knowledge of issues, policies, and newsmakers
Write scripts and ad-lib material for stories and live shots
Develop and research potential news stories
Ensure compliance with FCC regulations to protect the station’s license
Other duties as required by management
Qualifications

Required & Preferred:
4-year degree in journalism, broadcasting or an adjacent field preferred
Minimum of 3-years of reporting experience with a news organization
Experience in editing and packaging news sound and interviews
Understanding and experience reporting as a multimedia journalist
Experience in a busy and fast-paced, 24/7 newsroom
Comfort with breaking news and meeting tight deadlines
Proactivity and self-starting attitude a must
Ability to be nimble and pivot with the ebb and flow of the news cycle
Excellent communication skills
Excellent interview skills
Excellent news judgment
Knowledge of the broadcast area of greater Philadelphia and station demographics a plus
A valid driver's license, satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check, and, if the position requires use of the applicant's own vehicle, proof of insurance, is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and/or fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Position requires operation of a motor vehicle and the ability to speak clearly.
