Reference #: JREQ131586 The Director, Finance Systemsis responsible for leading the strategy, implementation, and ongoing management of enterprise financial systems, ensuring alignment with business objectives and operational needs. This role oversees the finance technology portfolio, including ERP (NetSuite, Oracle), Billing, Accounts Receivable, Cash Applications, Tax, Financial Reporting, and other back-office finance platforms.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong finance functional background, experience managing finance systems as a product, and a track record of driving large-scale system transformations and organizational change. Additionally, they will be hands-on in managing budgets, leading teams, and working closely with an Engineering CoE to execute key initiatives.
The Director, Finance Systems will oversee a portfolio of finance technology products, managing multiple Product Owners, Solution Architects, and Platform/Technical Architects to ensure financial technology investments drive efficiency, scalability, and compliance.
About you - experience, education, skills, and accomplishments
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
10+ Years of Relevant Experience
Finance background with deep knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, billing, AR/AP, and tax operations
Minimum 8 years experience managing and optimizing ERP (Netsuite, Oracle, SAP), billing platforms, and financial reporting systems.
What will you be doing in this role?
Finance Systems Strategy & Roadmap *Define and execute a finance systems strategy aligned with corporate finance and technology goals. *Partner with Finance leadership (CFO, Controllers, Treasury, Tax) to ensure systems meet business needs and compliance requirements. *Maintain a multi-year roadmap for finance system enhancements, transformations, and optimizations. *Stay ahead of industry trends and best practices in financial technology (e.g., automation, AI/ML for financial reconciliation, compliance reporting).
Financial Systems Portfolio & Product Leadership *Oversee a portfolio of finance technology products, ensuring alignment across systems and platforms. *Manage and provide direction to Product Owners, Solution Architects, and Platform/Technical Architects within the Finance Systems group. *Ensure all finance product teams are driving backlog management, system enhancements, and business alignment with broader enterprise goals. *Work with Solution Architects and Platform Engineers to design scalable and secure solutions. *Develop KPIs and SLAs to measure system performance and business value.
Transformation & Organizational Change Leadership *Lead large-scale finance system transformations (e.g., ERP migrations, finance automation, system integrations). *Partner with cross-functional teams to implement new financial processes, automation, and reporting frameworks. *Drive organizational change efforts, ensuring adoption of new systems and processes through training and stakeholder engagement. *Work with Integration Specialists and Engineering CoE to streamline data flows between financial platforms and other enterprise systems.
Engineering CoE & Technology Partnership *Collaborate closely with the Engineering CoE (Platform Engineers, DevOps, Integration Specialists) to drive technical execution. *Establish a strong working relationship with the Director of Software Engineering (India CoE) to ensure timely delivery of finance system enhancements. *Balance configuration vs. customization decisions in partnership with Solution and Platform Architects. *Ensure finance systems meet security, compliance, and audit requirements in collaboration with IT and Security teams.
Team Leadership & Budget Management *Lead a team of Finance Systems Product Owners, Solution Architects, Platform Architects, and Business Analysts. *Manage the finance systems budget, ensuring cost-ef ective technology investments. *Establish a high-performing team culture, providing mentorship, development, and succession planning. *Drive vendor management and negotiations for finance technology providers (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, Workday, SAP, Coupa).
