Job Description

The Comcast Cooperative Educational Program (Co-op) immerses students into the daily operations of a contemporary media and technology company while working side-by-side with Comcast’s top innovators. Designed for students whose curriculum allows for a cooperative learning track, the co-op becomes an integral part of the Comcast team working on creative, innovative, and thought-provoking projects within various business units. Throughout the experience, there is opportunity for exposure to mentorship and professional development while having some fun along the way.

This co-op position wi ll work on project Iris, the design and drafting platform for Comcast’s fiber optic and coax network. Iris is being developed by team with AeGIS , the group within CONNECT that develops tools to support the construction and maintenance of Comcast’s access network. Iris is a modern, GIS-based CAD tool, used to design Comcast’s access network, which consists of more than one million miles of fiber and coaxial cable, and millions of active and passive interconnecting devices. Iris also supports automation tools to reduce the time and cost of the design process.

Comcast is deploying the most advanced networks in the world, and needs powerful tools to support that effort. In order to meet the needs of our network design and deployment teams, and to achieve enterprise class performance, Iris is being built using state-of-the-art software technologies, including Unity3d, Node.js, MongoDB and AWS.

The co-op will work alongside our engineers writing and testing software for the network design tools that we develop.

Co-op responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Participate in Agile/Scrum development teams

  • Develop software in one or more of the following languages/frameworks: C#, Unity3D, Node.js, JavaScript, MongoDB

  • Write/execute automated unit and integration tests

  • Configure/ Maintain our CI/CD (continuous integration / continuous delivery) pipeline

  • Configure/ Maintain our AWS (Amazon Web Services) configurations of production, development and QA stacks

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience programming, preferably in either JavaScript or C# or both

  • Knowledge of any of the following is a plus:

  • Node.js, Unity3D, MongoDB, AWS

  • Preferred Majors: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computing and Security Technology, Electrical Engineering

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from Drexel University, with a cooperative learning track .

  • Available to work 40 hours per week for 6 months starting September 23 , 2024 through March 28, 2025 .

  • Available to report in-person to the work location provided above.

    1. 0 minimum cumulative GPA preferred.

Salary:

Base Pay: $32.00
