Activities Guide / Compass Adventure Guide

SUMMARY

We are seeking passionate outdoor enthusiasts that can share their knowledge and authenticity in a luxury hospitality setting. The Activities Guide position at Pendry Natirar is responsible for delivering guided recreation experiences to resort guests and members of the Natirar Club. Activities include but are not limited to guided hikes, Ebike tours, archery, axe throwing, fishing instruction, farm experiences, team building events, youth programs and more. Additionally, Activities Guides will be responsible for renting outdoor equipment to guests such as bikes, fishing poles and binoculars and will sell retail items related to outdoor pursuits. Team members will frequently speak to guests about available recreation opportunities both in person, over the phone and by email.

Strong candidates will have experience facilitating outdoor activities and demonstrate a high level of professionalism, positivity, and personal responsibility. Technical aptitude for outdoor gear and guiding, a working knowledge of the local ecosystem and location specific history will be highly regarded. Previous hospitality experience, First Aid and CPR credentials are a plus.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.

Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with company standards for the safe and effective operation of the hotel’s facilities.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Experiences in the outdoors

  • Job related certifications such as Wilderness First Aid, CPR, Swift Water Rescue and NOLS courses are highly valued

    EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in the outdoor recreation, park service, wellness or hospitality industry is required

  • Strong customer service skills and adaptability

  • Must be able to facilitate positive and memorable experiences to multi-generational guests

  • Must be able to communicate fun and engaging information about the local flora, fauna, geology, and history of the region

  • Must be able to learn and teach, skill-based recreation activities such as archery and fishing

  • Working knowledge of local recreation opportunities

  • Ability to work with a team

  • Ability to keep gear operational through general maintenance and basic repairs

  • Desire to learn and develop new skills

  • Must be able to speak English

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Associate must demonstrate appropriate fitness levels to deliver guided outdoor experiences including hikes that may last several hours, taking place over varying terrains and elevation changes

  • Work tasks are performed indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions

  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis

  • Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill all equipment handling tasks

  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, speaking and visual acuity

  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment

  • All employees must maintain a well-groomed and hygienic appearance in accordance with company standards
