Long Island Head Start Nutrition Specialist in Patchogue, New York
Position Description : The Nutrition Specialist is responsible for monitoring and inspecting the center kitchens, conducting monitoring site visits, and estimating and ordering appropriate amounts of food and kitchen supplies needed. Maintains, prepares, and reviews a variety of menu production records, inventories, logs and reports; accumulates data and inputs information into computer as appropriate, and files documents as necessary. Maintains and evaluates equipment for safety. Provides specialized training and mentoring for the transfer of nutrition-related information and skills to staff, children, and parents of the Early Head Start and Head Start Centers.Requirements: Minimum: Associates Degree in Nutrition or two (2) year degree in related subject and four (4) years’ food service experience. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Dietary Education and two (2) years’ food service experience.Bilingual preferred.
