Lead Marine Mechanic / Shop Foreman

We are a well-established marine services company based in Patchogue, NY, specializing in boat maintenance, repairs, and marine upgrades. Looking for an experienced Lead Marine Mechanic / Shop Foreman to take the helm of our growing team! This hands-on leadership role is perfect for someone who loves working on boats, enjoys solving mechanical and electrical problems, and takes pride in high-quality work. What You’ll Do:
Engine Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain four-stroke outboard engines, ensuring top performance. (Primarily Yamaha and Mercury)
Electrical & Electronics Work: Diagnose and install 12-volt electrical systems, including batteries, wiring, GPS, radar, depth finders, and navigation equipment.
Shop Leadership: Lead by example, mentor technicians, and ensure all repairs meet our high standards.
Customer Interaction: Clearly explain repairs, provide service updates, and build trust with boat owners.
Safety & Compliance: Follow all industry safety standards to keep our team and customers safe.
Equipment & Workspace Maintenance: Keep tools and the shop organized, functional, and efficient.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience: 5+ years working on boats, with a focus on four-stroke outboard engines.
Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of marine electronics (GPS, radar, depth finders) and 12-volt electrical systems.
Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues efficiently.
Leadership & Teamwork: Comfortable mentoring a team while also working independently. Proven ability to lead a team, manage workflows, and uphold high standards of workmanship.
Preferred, (but not required):
Equipment Handling: Experience using travel lifts, forklifts, and boat-moving equipment.
Licenses: A valid driver’s license (boating certifications are a plus).
Certifications: Relevant certifications from recognized marine industry brands are highly desirable.
Attention to Detail: High-quality workmanship and safety compliance are top priorities.
