Position Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Chief Governance Officer and Corporate Secretary, the Vice President & Associate General Counsel, Labor and Employment Law, plays a crucial role in managing and overseeing the legal aspects of labor and employment within CVS Health. This individual will work closely with Senior Executives, Operational Management, Human Resources, and other functions across CVS Health.
Job Responsibilities:
Legal Strategy and Compliance : Partners closely with Executive Leadership Team members to develop broader enterprise-wide legal strategy and supporting processes to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor and employment laws.
Policy Development : Create and oversee the implementation of company policies related to labor and employment.
Litigation Management : Manage and oversee all labor and employment-related litigation, including complex class actions; oversee litigation budget with a focus on reducing outside professional fees.
Advisory Role : Provide legal advice and support to senior management on labor and employment issues, including employee relations, workplace investigations, and disciplinary actions.
Risk Management : Identify and mitigate potential legal risks related to labor and employment practices.
Resource Planning: Monitors and helps to drive the effective and efficient utilization of legal expenses and resources to achieve the business’s strategic goals.
People Management : Manages multiple teams that typically include more senior attorney direct reports (e.g., Managing Senior Counsel and above), with oversight of all key initiatives and people related issues (performance management, hiring, compensation, etc.). May also have Paralegal and/or more senior Legal Professional direct reports.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of experience in a law firm or in-house position with a focus on employment law
Experience in a health care or retail organization
Experience with California class actions and single plaintiff employment cases
Experience supervising professional teams
Strong communication skills – must be able to influence at all levels, including senior executives
Ability to navigate in a fast-moving environment and provide concise and timely advice to stakeholders
Ability to collaborate cross-functional with teams working together across different areas to achieve common goals
Expertise in the full range of labor and employment laws
Strong litigation management experience
Admitted to a state bar and currently in good standing
Hybrid in office Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday - Preferred Locations: Woonsocket, RI/Parsippany, NJ/Hartford ,CT

The successful candidate will immediately develop a working understanding of the CVS Health Corporation business models and strategic initiatives.

Education
- Graduate of a law school accredited by the American Bar Association
Compensation
$280,000.00-$380,000.00.
