Ashland has an exciting opportunity for aChemical Operator to join our Ashland LLC business at our Parlin, NJ. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the manufacturing function. This position will report to Production Manager.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Must follow all safety rules, regulations, operating procedures, work instructions, and corporate/plant policies & laws at all times
Correctly fill out and maintain all paperwork that is used in conjunction with specific tasks
Performs batch and continuous operations as needed to produce finished product
Performs material handling operations; including being able to operate a fork truck
Safely prepares equipment for maintenance operations
Maintain proper housekeeping/cleaning in area to ensure a safe working environment at all times
Operating process equipment to proper specifications by following established procedures and instructions
Safely handle numerous solid, liquid, and gas materials used in the production process by following established procedures and instructions. This includes maintaining all logs and paperwork associated with the production process
Safely operate all process equipment used in the production of the finished product
Perform handling and storage of hazardous waste materials properly and responsibility, while being trained in emergency procedures in the event of a hazardous spill during storage or transportation. Have knowledge of labels and containers for use with hazardous waste materials
Perform introductory and recurring training covered by regulatory and corporate requirements
Perform other duties as required
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
High school diploma
Ability to work rotating shifts (7 days a week), holidays, and overtime when necessary
Two years of Industrial experience is required
Applicant chosen must be able to pass physical requirements of the job
Demonstrated good troubleshooting and communication skills (written & verbal)
Experience with DCS or other computer control systems
Able to work in a unionized facility
Able to lift 50 lbs.
Must be authorized to work in the United States
