Function:To Establish a therapeutic environment and deliver effective services through positive behavioral support and professionalism. To support individuals in maintaining their independence and empowering them to become integrated members of their communities.Responsibilities:•Supervises individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to ensure safety;•Implement behavior plans and interventions as developed by the behavior team;•Provides personal care to the individual while int the home or community as needed (may include but is not limited to lifting, transferring, toileting, feeding, bathing and dressing;•Transport and accompanies individuals on activities in the community in addition to medical appointments and family visits, if required.•Documents daily behavior, unusual incidents, accidents and any other information that pertains to each individual’s care;•Is responsible for all documentation and administration of medications;•Completes designated shift responsibilities •Completes all required trainings and continues to improve skills through the College of Direct Support, the Elizabeth M. Boggs Center, other training opportunities and minimum annual training requirementsQualifications/Requirements•Must be at least 18 years of age;•Minimum of a High School diploma with prior experience working with children and adults with developmental disabilities and/or behaviorally challenged individuals;•Valid driver’s license in the state of NJ and good driving history;•Good writing and communication skills;•Must successfully complete and demonstrate proficiency in all areas of required training;•Ability to effectively work with people of diverse cultural backgrounds and races;•Ability to effectively work as a team member and implement positive behavioral supports;•Complete drug test and background checks including CARI, CHRI, the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities;•Must cooperate with the licensee, Department of Human Services (DHS) staff, Department of Children and Families (DCF) staff, and all state representatives in any inspection or investigation.
