The Oswego County Solid Waste Department has an immediate opening for a Heavy Operator to perform safe and efficient operation of specialized heavy equipment used in waste management activities. A variety of manual tasks connected with the above operations are performed. Operation of the specialized heavy equipment is performed under general supervision with the employee being responsible for making minor repairs to equipment and for ordinary servicing. Qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and either: Two (2) years of experience operating a tractor-trailer or various heavy equipment such as a grader, dozer, etc; OR Three (3) years of experience operating various automotive equipment such as roller, small dozer, etc. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a current, valid, Class B New York State driver's license at time of appointment. Possession of a Class A New York State driver’s license within six (6) months of appointment.
