Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Committed to ensuring the achievement of continuous improvement within area of expertise, as well as areas of business in order to remain at the forefront of meeting Company objectives, thus proactively satisfying customers.
  • This position mandates that all required safety classes, trainings, and certifications be completed and maintained within the specific position/department.
  • Is aware of relevance and importance of their activities and how they contribute to the achievement of the quality objectives.
  • This position requires an employee to work their regularly scheduled shift; ability to work overtime and weekends.
  • Must be aware and comply with related IATF/ISO procedures, as applicable.
  • Must meet qualitative and quantitative standards for the position and department.
  • Highly involved in implementation of current and future ERP systems.
General Accounting Functions
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly.
  • Maintain fixed asset and depreciation records.
  • Highly involved in month-end closing, preparing journal entries in areas such as inventory related adjustments and write-offs, reserves analysis, reconciliations, and data collection and preparation of monthly/quarterly reporting and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Reconcile inter-company accounts for subsidiaries.
  • Conduct regular cost-benefit analysis to evaluate investment opportunities and capital expenditures, whilst tracking CAPEX spend against budget.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
  • Understand all aspects of accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll departments and assist these functions during peak busy times and/or to cover vacations.
  • Post cash receipts to customer accounts and investigate and allow or disallow discrepancies in payments.
  • Collect past due amounts from customers. Participate in monthly accounts receivable review meeting.
Budgets/Forecasting
  • Prepare monthly budget vs. actual statements.
  • Collaborate and provide support to managers to analyze and present departmental performance.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes by analyzing historical data, identifying trends, and providing insights to inform decision-making.
  • Monitor performance against budget and forecast, identifying variances and recommend corrective actions as needed.
Costing
  • Analyze manufacturing costs and variances to identify areas for process improvement.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining the financial cost reports necessary to fully explain standard and gross margin analysis and the variances to budget/prior year.
  • Set, develop, and analyze standard costs, working with non-finance teams to ensure costs are accurate.
  • Review costing for accuracy, special costing projects, and provide management with accurate and timely reports.
  • Perform annual cost roll and inventory revaluation.
Other
  • Backup for the Vice President of Finance and payroll.
  • Prepare audit work papers.
  • Respond to auditor's questions during audit and during the year.
  • Respond to tax notices.
  • Work with external sales tax software, customer sales tax forms & review sales tax returns prior to filing.
  • Monitor credit card processors and reconcile payments received to customer payments.
  • Prepare analysis and reports for department heads as requested.
  • Assist the CFO as required.
  • Assist other employees when the Vice President of Finance is unavailable.

Job Requirements
Education & Experience:
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from a four year college or university.
  • Minimum five (5) years accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Excel - intermediate level (vlookups, formulas and pivot tables, PowerPoint, Fixed Asset CS. DP Payroll System and Report Writer, AS400
