RESPONSIBILITY:
As a Product Engineer at McGard, you will play a crucial role in the development and launch of our automotive security products. You will lead projects, manage them through the product development process, and collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams to ensure both the successful introduction of new products and the continual improvement of existing ones.
JOB DUTIES:
Collaborate closely with automotive OE customers to understand their specific product requirements, ensuring their needs are met with innovative and effective solutions.
Lead the development and launch of new products, while adhering to the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes.
Perform product testing, develop validation plans, and establish quality assurance procedures to ensure products meet customer expectations and industry standards.
Create and maintain detailed product specifications, engineering drawings, and documentation.
Work with cross-functional teams, including sales, design engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to drive successful product launches and continuous improvement of existing products.
Analyze product performance data and customer feedback to identify areas for improvement.
Establish and manage project timelines, ensuring on-time product launches.
Participate in design reviews and provide valuable input to enhance product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
Support relevant product lines through all stages of the product lifecycle, up to obsolescence.
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge in the market.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME / BSMET) or a related field. GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
Proficiency in CAD software and 2D drawing development. Experience with PTC Creo Parametric and Windchill is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control principles, and material and strength analysis.
Design failure mode and effect analysis (DFMEA) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience.
Proven experience in product engineering, preferably in the automotive industry.
Familiarity with the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) production part approval process (PPAP).
