JOB DESCRIPTION:The position of Housekeeping Supervisor supervises staff in the cleaning, care and upkeep of various areas within Nathan S. Kline Institute (NKI) including lab areas, offices, common space including bathrooms. Primary responsibility will be the supervision of lower-level housekeeping and cleaning positions, performing activities and tasks associated with the cleaning, care, and upkeep of various areas within NKI. In addition, this individual will be responsible for ordering all necessary supplies and equipment needed to carry out the tasks of the housekeeping department and to monitor and control inventory and distribution of those supplies and equipment.In addition, this individual will be responsible to schedule housekeeping staff to ensure adequacy of available manpower, reassigns staff to assure that work is accomplished according to schedule and that staff is fully utilized. Arranges for reassignment of personnel to handle absencesProvides training in proper methods related to housekeeping practices. Responsible for Inspecting buildings and assigned areas for compliance with cleaning program. Investigates complaints regarding unsatisfactory cleaning performance and takes corrective action. Evaluates work performance of subordinate staff through personal observations and takes appropriate remedial action to improve work performance.
