Weco is a value-added single-source contract manufacturer of machined components, finished fabricated sheet metal, and assembled metal products. Our three facilities encompass all aspects of metal product manufacturing including our own on-site finishing with powder, paint, and graphics capability. We serve the OEM Industrial, Healthcare/Medical Device, Aerospace/Defense, Renewable Energy, and Electronics by manufacturing both conventional and the most technically demanding items.

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and negotiating materials and services for the manufacturing department for all facilities This position requires a strong understanding of supply chain management, as well as the ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and results-oriented individual with a proven track record of success in a manufacturing environment. The goal is to optimize procurement operations, drive cost savings, and maintain high-quality standards in materials procurement.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet the company's material needs.

  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish strong vendor relationships.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand material requirements and specifications.

  • Monitor market trends and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

  • Identify and qualify suppliers for manufacturing materials and services.

  • Develop and manage relationships with suppliers.

  • Negotiate contracts for materials and services.

  • VMI pricing for commodities (sheet metal, bar stock, hardware and consumables)

  • Source and purchase materials and services in a timely and cost-effective manner.

  • Monitor inventory and purchasing activity to ensure we do not carry more inventory than necessary while also ensuring that required materials are available when needed by production.

  • Work with the manufacturing team to ensure that materials and services meet quality standards.

  • Maintain accurate records of all purchasing transactions.

  • Prepare reports on purchasing activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field required.

  • At least 5 years of experience in purchasing required.

  • 5-10 years of experience in manufacturing purchasing preferred.

  • Strong understanding of supply chain management principles.

  • Epicor system experience preferred.

  • Good understanding of fabrication and machining process in a contract manufacturing environment with low to medium volume.

  • Excellent negotiation skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to manage and build a team to support all facilities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is a must.
