Position Available: Center Mental Health CounselorWe are seeking a full-time Center Mental Health Counselor (CMHC) who is knowledgeable of current mental health best practices and mental health challenges faced by the diverse group of students we serve, ages 16-24. You'll be the person students turn to as they develop the resilience skills necessary to maintain their mental health in the workplace. In this position, you will focus on:Early identification and diagnosis of mental health problems.Basic mental health care.Promotion, prevention, and education of mental health issues to help students overcome barriers to employability.Design and implement educational mental health promotions.Use the Employee Assistance Program approach that includes short-term counseling, with an employability focus, referral to center support groups, and crisis intervention.Review social intake assessments of Job Corps applicants.Assess and make recommendations for referred students.Provide treatment in the form of short-term counseling, mental health checks, in collaboration with Health and Wellness staff, Career Counselors, and crisis intervention and evaluation as needed. Educational Requirements/Skills:Candidate must have an active, Unrestricted License to practice as an Independent Practitioner in New York and must not require supervision to practice. Compensation is based on experience.A Clinical/Counseling Psychologist or Clinical Social Worker with a minimum of 1-year experience as a licensed independent practitioner providing assessment and treatment services to adolescents and young adults. Must possess a Valid New York State Driving License with an acceptable driving record. Must be proficient with using common computer software such as Microsoft Office, and other career sites and job search applications.
