    Minimum Requirements:

    New York State Certification as a Library Media Specialist.

    Masters in Library Science

    Position Summary/Responsibilities:

    Position Summary:

    In the Greece Central School District, the Library Media Specialist plays a vital role in fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment. This position requires a highly skilled and passionate educator who can integrate information literacy, technology, and curriculum support to empower students and staff. She/he will manage the library media center, develop and deliver instructional programs, collaborate with teachers, and promote a love of reading and lifelong learning. They will also be responsible for maintaining a current and relevant collection of resources, both print and digital, and ensuring equitable access for all learners.

    Responsibilities:

    Instructional and Technological Leadership:

    *Develop and deliver engaging lessons on information literacy, research skills, digital citizenship, and technology integration.

    *Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources and technology into classroom instruction.

    *Provide individual and group instruction to students and staff on the use of library resources and technology.

    *Provide technical support and training to students and staff on the use of library technology and digital resources.

    *Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance library services and instruction.

    Literacy Promotion:

    *Promote a love of reading and lifelong learning through engaging programs and activities.

    *Provide readers' advisory services to students and staff.

    *Organize and facilitate book clubs, author visits, and other literacy events.

    Library Management:

    *Manage the library's collection, including selection, acquisition, organization, and maintenance of print and digital resources.

    *Develop and implement library policies and procedures.

    *Oversee the library budget and manage resources effectively.

    *Maintain a welcoming and inclusive library environment that supports diverse learning needs.

    *Oversee the work of the library staff

    *Manage the distribution and collection of the student Chromebooks.

    Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration.
