GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES Under the supervision of the Director of Maintenance & Modernization and the Foremen has charge of maintenance and operations of Housing Authority buildings, grounds, and all mechanical equipment; does related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

In a housing project or housing projects, this work involves the responsibility for the efficient and economical maintenance and operation of the properties of the Housing Authority. Performs actual maintenance work and operation of equipment. Supervision is received from Director of Maintenance & Modernization and the Foremen with some leeway for making independent decisions on procedures to be followed for the completion of the work. Supervision is exercised over the work of maintenance mechanics, grounds keepers and others employed by the Authority in connection with this work.

EXAMPLES OF WORK (Illustrative only) * Supervises, inspects and performs the maintenance repair and operation of the properties of the Housing Authority including project roads; * Supervises and performs the maintenance of Housing services such as heat, light, gas, water repairs and refuse disposals; * Supervises and performs the maintenance and repair of Housing equipment such as refrigerators, gas stoves, furnaces, water heaters, and kitchen and bathroom plumbing equipment;

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: EITHER: (a) three years of satisfactory experience in one or more of the skilled construction or mechanical trades or professions of similar nature of which one year must have been in a supervisory capacity directing the work of others and completion of a standard grade school course or;

(b) three years of satisfactory experience in large scale building maintenance work at least one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity and graduation from a standard grade school course; or

(c) a satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training.
