Aerotek General Production Worker in Newark, New York

Job Description:

Production Associates are responsible for performing a range of tasks and processes to assemble electronic components and sub-assemblies. This includes tasks such as soldering, cable assembly, machine operation, final assembly, PCB work, crimping, and ribbon cable assembly. Production Associates must adhere to established methods and procedures to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and accurately, meeting manufacturing schedules with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hand Soldering: Perform hand soldering of wires to electrical connectors and printed circuit boards (PCBs).

  • Electromechanical Assembly: Assemble electromechanical components and sub-assemblies, ensuring correct configuration and functionality.

  • Assembly Instructions: Read and interpret moderately complex assembly instructions, blueprints, and schematics.

  • Documentation: Accurately complete required production documentation, such as assembly logs and quality control forms.

  • Machine Operation: Operate production machinery and hand tools to complete assembly tasks.

  • Quality Assurance: Inspect work for quality and adherence to production standards. Report any issues or deviations to the supervisor.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to meet production targets and deadlines.

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area to ensure a safe working environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in hand soldering and assembly processes.

  • Experience with general assembly, including the use of hand tools (e.g., wire strippers, crimpers).

  • Basic understanding of printed circuit board (PCB) assembly.

  • Attention to Detail: Ability to read and follow assembly instructions and blueprints with precision.

  • Communication Skills: Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions.

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Experience: Entry-level, though prior experience in electronics or production environments is a plus. On-the-job training will be provided.

Additional Skills (Nice-to-Have):

  • Experience with surface-mount technology (SMT).

  • Familiarity with electromechanical assembly.

  • Knowledge of cleanroom or controlled environment procedures.

  • Previous experience with PCB assembly or soldering.

Compensation:

  • Hourly Rate: $17-$19 per hour, based on experience.

  • Shift Differential: 10% for 2nd shift.

Work Schedule:

  • 1st Shift: Monday-Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm

  • 2nd Shift: Monday-Thursday, 2:30 pm - 1:00 am (with 10% shift differential)
