The Arc Wayne of Newark, NY, a Human Services Agency, is seeking to hire a full time Direct Support Professional (DSP) Evening Floater, to support adults with developmental disabilities in obtaining their life goals. The role of the DSP is to teach, encourage, inspire, mentor, influence, instruct, nurture, and praise the individuals that you support.

The DSP Floater earns a starting wage of $17.20/hr. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL

In this role, you will support individuals with daily living skills including housekeeping, cooking, hygiene, and self-administration of medications. While supporting people with disabilities, you learn their individual differences in ability, personality, interests, learning, motivation, and likes and dislikes. After learning each Individual's Life Plan, you follow it closely to ensure health and safety and achieve goals. You assess their needs, positively influence behavior, and provide skills that will all assist them in integrating into their community in the least restrictive environment. It is rewarding to see your work as a DSP pay off when the people you support achieve their goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Current, valid NYS driver's license for at least 2 years and a safe driving record

  • Ability to pass a background and reference check

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Ability to physically assist individuals who use wheelchairs and/or walkers

    Previous experience in the Human Services Field, as a Home Health Aide or a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is a plus! Are you dependable? Can you assist in the full care of adults including accurate medication administration? Do you understand the importance of timely documentation? Do you enjoy working with individuals with disabilities? If so, we want to meet you!

    WORK SCHEDULE

    Full Time (40 hours/week), Tuesday-Saturday (2pm - 10pm)
