What you will do
Prudential Private Capital (PPC) is seeking an experienced Investment Professional to lead a team responsible for originating and managing senior debt and mezzanine investments in the Real Assets - Power and Renewables group. This group originates and manages private debt investments in renewable and gas Power Projects, Utilities and Cooperatives, with a focus on North America, UK/Europe, Australia and Latin America.
The PPC Power and Renewables team manages an approximately $9 billion dollar portfolio of private investments in debt and structured equity in power generation and power infrastructure. Candidates can expect to manage and originate investment transactions in power generation assets such as wind, solar, hydroelectric, natural gas-fired power plants, transmission assets, as well as investments in power project developers, utilities, and cooperatives. The group has a geographic focus on North America, Latin America, UK/Europe and Australia, providing candidates a global perspective on power investing.
This experienced Investment Professional will lead a team responsible for sourcing, underwriting and managing Power debt and mezzanine investments. This position will report to the Managing Director of PPCs Real Assets Power Group and will be based in Newark, NJ.
What you can expect
Sourcing new private placement senior and mezzanine investments typically ranging in size from $25 to $250 million both on a direct basis and via intermediaries and advisors
Supervising and developing junior investment professionals
Generating new deal flow by developing and maintaining relationships with clients, sponsors, prospects, intermediaries and advisors within the targeted markets
Managing a portfolio of existing Power investments, including projects, portfolios of projects, utilities and cooperatives
Working with lawyers to successfully negotiate financing documents
Working with the Managing Director to successfully accomplish the objectives of the Power Group and PPC overall
What you will bring
8+ years of experience in the power project and utility finance industry, with a focus on project finance structuring and transaction documentation, including familiarity with tax equity structures
Track record of closing transactions, including originating, structuring and negotiating deals and working with lawyers on financing documentation and carrying the process through closing of the transaction
Ability to travel

An MBA and/or the CFA designation
Strong analytic and investment skills and a proven track record in making and/or managing solid debt investments over time
Critical reasoning, natural curiosity and good common sense
Highly motivated and creative problem solver
Excellent relationship skills and proven ability to develop business with new and existing clients
Ability to distill, and then to clearly and concisely communicate, complex issues to a variety of decision makers and audiences
Strong leadership abilities and effective management skills, with a desire to manage, mentor and develop team members
Excellent presentation and communication skills; having an ability to communicate results and influence decisions and direction at the senior management level
Ability to operate with a sense of urgency and to work productively with internal investment teams and support functions, as well as clients and external advisors
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results oriented environment

Salary Range Disclosure
Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $160,000 to $180,000. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
