The Prudential Insurance Company of America Lead Data Scientist in Newark, New Jersey

Lead Data Scientist, The Prudential Insurance Company of America, Newark, NJ: Design and develop advanced statistical and analytics methods for prediction and optimization including a wide variety of machine learning technologies (logit, regression, decision trees/forests, boosted models, clustering, etc.) for explorative analysis, survival analysis, segmentation, prediction and recommendation systems. Identify, source, transform and join public, proprietary and internal data sources. Model large structured and unstructured data sources (e.g. financial transactional, time-series, text, speech/audio and image). Perform analysis and implement software solutions that maximize business impact. Oversee the creation, implementation, and delivery of an end-to-end technical solution for a data science project by guiding technical staff. Follow the data science project lifecycle while closely engaging with scrum master, and product owner role. Prepare and present written and verbal reports to key stakeholders. Develop and maintain consultative relationships with key business stakeholder. Translate business data and problem statements to suitable methods and evaluate the fit. Provide timely guidance to junior staff in applying theory to practice on a day-to-day basis in business context, anticipate roadblocks, and represent the technical side of the project at all meetings. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations, and demonstrated technical leadership in making decisions. Some domestic travel may be required.Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days a week.Full time employment, Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Master’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Engineering, Econometrics, Physics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Data Science, or a related quantitative field and 3 years of relevant work experience in advanced quantitative, analytical, and statistical solutions.Of the required experience, must have 3 years of hands-on experience in each of the following:•Applying a variety of statistical machine learning techniques (regression, gradient boosted machines, unsupervised methods), statistical analysis, and optimization on structured and unstructured data;•Applying advanced machine learning techniques, including deep learning, natural language processing (Bert, LDA, and transformers) and unstructured data (images, text, and audio);•Using statistical modeling tools for large data sets, including SQL, and Python; and•Working on project requirements, resourcing requirements, and planning dependencies, and communicate with project management teams and technology teams on deliverables.Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days a week.Domestic travel required up to 10%.
