MAC Cosmetics is looking for an experienced Director responsible for leading our online marketing team that supports The ideal candidate has industry and agency experience leading consumer facing campaigns from a holistic, 360 point of view. This candidate understands content creation, how to activate campaigns and manage projects. Additionally, this candidate needs to have a strong knowledge base of performance marketing (paid, social and search) and how it ladders up to the performance marketing strategy. The Director, Ecommerce Marketing will lead a team of two responsible for acquisition and retention marketing programs, and together the team will coordinate with cross-functional team members in technology, web production, creative, and ecommerce merchandising. Partnering with cross functional teams and agencies, the Director must focus on teamwork and strong communication between internal and external collaborators.


  • Leading content creation for ecommerce vehicles (email, paid search, site, etc)

  • Working closely with North America marketing and creative to ensure all content needs are in place and tracking on-time

  • Central point of contact in 360 meetings for digital content

  • Lead strategist on all performance marketing efforts working with the team to provide data and analysis of the success of each program, applying learnings to optimize future campaigns to drive customer conversion

  • Adopt and encourage a ‘test and learn’ environment on the team. Focus on improving campaign performance and driving conversion and sales.

  • Collaborate with internal creative and partners to develop, test, and execute new and engaging marketing concepts.

  • Responsible for the marketing budget, allocating spend towards business driving programs and ensuring a return on the brand’s investment. Utilizing a data-driven approach, report on ROI, scalability, etc.

  • Responsible for managing the Manager of Retention Marketing while developing and implementing all email, direct mail and partner programs. Develop and optimize cost effective ongoing database segmentation plans in order to maximize revenue and engagement while minimizing opt-outs and opt-downs.

  • Lead external teams/consultants on special projects related to gaining a deeper understanding of the database. Make recommendation based on results and implement programs.

  • Responsible for managing the Manager of Acquisition Marketing and the Manager of Email and Retention

  • Develop new acquisition programs to drive awareness, engagement, and new customers to

  • Forecast and deliver on volume, costs, and revenue targets for all acquisition programs.


  • BS/BA required

  • 8 years work experience in a marketing role or agency background

  • Omnichannel and DTC background required

  • High degree of comfort in highly creative and unstructured work environment

  • Capability to drive results in a highly matrixed organization with competing priorities

  • Proven track record of delivering in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • 5 years in team management

  • Team player

  • Detail oriented and ability to multi-task

  • Strong organizational skills
