Vice President, Finance Business Partner, Technology

Overview:

The Vice President, Finance Business Partner - Technology at Mastercard will drive financial strategy, support business growth, and ensure robust financial management within our technology sector. Collaborating with our technology group, incumbent will optimize financial operations, enhance decision-making, and boost overall performance.

We seek a strategic thinker with deep financial expertise, a proven track record in technology finance, and exceptional leadership skills. The ideal candidate will implement data-driven solutions, streamline processes, and offer financial insights to help business partners plan, prioritize investments, and manage performance. Acting as both a player and coach, incumbent will provide financial thought partnership and analytical support.

Collaboration and stakeholder management are key to success in this role. This role will lead technology groups in understanding the financial impacts of business decisions and serve as a strategic advisor, ensuring alignment with overall business strategy.

Role:

• Business Partnering and Advisory: Collaborate with senior technology leaders as a trusted advisor on financial matters, ensuring alignment with goals and strategies. Additionally, partner with senior management and Procurement to implement productivity initiatives and enhance sourcing efficiencies.

• Financial Leadership and Analysis: Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with technology division objectives. Provide insightful analysis to support decision-making and business performance.

• Financial Planning, Management, and Oversight: Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes. Monitor performance, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions. Evaluate and prioritize technology investments, providing oversight for capital expenditures.

• Risk Management and Compliance: Identify financial risks and opportunities, implementing strategies to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with policies, standards, and regulations. Ensure strong financial controls and strengthen oversight.

• Capital Investment Evaluation and Benchmarking: Evaluate business proposals and major investments to support strategic and financial goals. Champion internal and external benchmarking for margin expansion.

• Data Insights, Metrics, and Performance Tracking: Provide guidance on delivering data insights and key business metrics. Define, communicate, and track performance indicators to ensure ongoing competitiveness and profitability.

• Team Leadership and Development: Provide direct support to achieve project goals and implement automated solutions to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency. Spearhead process improvement initiatives related to budgeting, forecasting, and financial processes, while also leading ad hoc strategic studies on innovative technologies. Mentor and lead a high-performing finance team, cultivating a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.

All About You:

• Master’s Degree preferred in Finance, Economics, Business or related field

• Advanced level of finance experience within Technology Finance strongly preferred

• Effective communication and influencing skills; ability to build credibility and rapport with senior management

• Track record building internal and external business partnerships

• Energetic and motivated team player with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and teams, driving projects and key initiatives to successful completion.

• Ability to work independently and to drive process improvement initiatives

• Strong organizational skills and sense of prioritization

• Strong analytical skills with an eye on details, coupled with the ability to have a helicopter view and big picture strategic perspective

• Proficient in managing multiple concurrent initiatives simultaneously

• Experience in managing a diverse, multifunctional, global Finance organization, including motivating, developing and inspiring Finance professionals

• Good working knowledge of general accounting and internal controls

• Proven presentation skills, including strong oral and written capabilities

• Advanced knowledge of Excel, Access, Oracle, Apptio, Agile IT methodology and Hyperion knowledge is a plus

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. O'Fallon, Missouri: $170,000 - $263,000 USD

Purchase, New York: $196,000 - $302,000 USD
