Description There's currently a position available through Robert Half at a growing Non-Profit firm for an efficient, accurate Staff Accountant. Set in the New York, New York area, the company offering this long-term contract / temporary opportunity encourages innovation and rewards effort in the work place. Responsibilities held by the Staff Accountant include the preparation of monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. Be prepared to dedicate a fair amount of time to producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, you will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting. You'll also communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, take part in compliance, and look over schedules for the reporting processes.

How you will make an impact

• Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

• Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner

• Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

• Support implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

• Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting

• Support capital lease and monthly payment schedules

• Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision

• Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments

• Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

• Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed Requirements - Competent with spreadsheets and databases

• Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

• Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills

• Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

• Excellent attention to detail

• Accounts Receivable (AR) experience

• Account reconciliation experience

• Foundational knowledge in Microsoft Excel

• Accounts Payable (AP) experience preferred

• Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes

• BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

• Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

• Recent and relevant accounting experience

• Skilled with ERP systems

• Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines
