Job Description:

The Senior Manager, Treasury ALM oversees a team of Treasury professionals in execution and oversight of Asset and Liability Management (ALM) activities (balance sheet and net interest income forecasting, interest rate risk measurement, funds transfer pricing, and/or reporting & technical analytics) related to optimization of TD’s balance sheet. Contributes to the development of the strategic direction of the team, considering all relevant internal and external factors.

Also provides leadership, coaching, and development management to ensure results and professional/personal objectives are achieved for the overall group.

Depth & Scope:

  • Provide people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required

  • Oversees and leads a highly complex and diverse Asset and Liability Management (ALM) function for an area of significant risk, complexity or scope while growing talent, developing skills and capabilities to achieve career goals, support project / initiative success and achieve business results

  • Provides coaching, mentorship and guidance to practitioners, business, executives within area of expertise

  • Manages and oversees the overall discipline and strategy for the respective areas while aligning to the enterprise best practices

  • Provides coaching, mentorship and guidance to practitioners, business, executives within area of expertise

  • Strategic partner to leadership team on the management of the portfolio and financials, with deep industry, external / internal, enterprise knowledge, recognizing and anticipating emerging trends and; identifying operational efficiencies and opportunities with other business management / enterprise areas

  • Facilitates key strategic discussions and provides thought leadership to executive audience (output include strategic roadmap and / or deliverables / frameworks / short to long term goals etc.)

  • Sets operational team direction and collaborates with others to execute on common goals

  • Focuses on longer-range planning for functional area (e.g. 12 months or greater)

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience

  • 10+ years of experience

Customer Accountabilities:

  • Provides overall strategic direction and leadership guidance to the broader team on all quantitative analysis

  • Provides leadership direction on implementation / execution of strategies for interest rate risk management, balance sheet forecasting, or funds transfer pricing

  • Coordinates the Bank's response to to risk, auditors, and regulators for the overall Treasury area supported

  • Represents treasury’s view on such issues as derivative accounting and transfer pricing

  • Works with product areas on hedging major product campaigns and on new product offerings

  • Acts as subject matter expert for own area and provide guidance / advice and recommendations to support dealings with internal / external partners

  • Participates on internal / external committees to provide advice / counsel to business / finance partners and represent the interests of the Bank

Shareholder Accountabilities:

  • Works with key business leaders to develop business plan, ensuring the optimal use of resources and leverage TD’s operating model to maximize efficiency, effectiveness and scale

  • Plans and executes on strategic activities, reviews and communicates results, and adjusts tactics accordingly

  • Executes on the annual business plan to deliver results aligned with business strategies

  • Proactively identifies key business opportunities, researches and recommends enhancements / modifications to programs / processes / policies, develops strategies to achieve recommendations and works closely with team to execute and implement

  • Protects the interests of the organization – identifies and manages risks, and escalates non-standard, high risk transactions / activities as necessary

  • Keeps abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts

  • Ensures employees are knowledgeable; and assumes responsibility to minimize operational and regulatory risk by complying with Bank and industry Code of Conduct

  • Maintains a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite
