Position Summary

The Division of Research & Innovation in the OBGYN Dept. at Columbia University is seeking a Program Manager to lead all administrative and operational management of two Programs:

  • The New York Community-Hospital-Academic Maternal Health Equity Partnership (NY-CHAMP) NIH Maternal Health Research Center of Excellence grant (NY CHAMP). This large grant is designed to address the disparity in maternal mortality and morbidity in New York City and New York State and includes a plan to conduct two interrelated multi-institutional Research Projects as well as establishing Community Engagement & Policy Action Core, and Career Development & Training Core. NY-CHAMP brings comprehensive scientific leadership with 9 Principal Investigators from Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Weill Cornell Medicine and four large community organizations, together with a broad coalition of community partners, local and regional hospitals, academic institutions, and governmental agencies from NYC and NYS. There will be an advisory board, the Community-Hospital-Academic Research Governance Board (CHARGE), which includes diverse, multi-sector representatives. This advisory board will provide important guidance with regards to implementation and sustainment of NY-CHAMP and assist with strategic planning. NY-CHAMP investigative team comprises 37 faculty, from different departments at Columbia and Cornell, with expertise in 20 different disciplines and content areas.
  • Engaging Communities to Reduce Morbidity from Maternal Sepsis (EnCoRe MoMs) study, which aims to develop a novel comprehensive model of maternal sepsis care to reduce pregnancy-associated morbidity and mortality and increase equity in maternal health in our communities. The Program Manager is charged with program development, implementation, evaluation and enhancement.

Responsibilities

Coordination and execution of the overall Center and study activities in collaboration with investigators. Monitor and coordinate project planning, to ensure tasks and activities by all project staff are on schedule. Submit and manage all institutional review board activities. Communicate with research partners, sponsors, faculty and staff as well as other internal and external constituencies. Coordinate planning and logistics for multi-site and multi-organization partner meetings. Monitor progress regarding Center objectives and timelines. Work closely with the Contact PI, MPIs and project and core teams to oversee data collection and data analysis. Contribute to research team building, dissemination of study findings, and community engagement activities. Program success requires traveling to consortium sites, board meetings and community partners as needed

Administrative Management

  • Develop and adhere to project timelines and milestones.
  • Oversee the scheduling of operations meeting for relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure agendas and minutes are prepared, collected and available.
  • Maintain a daily schedule for monitoring all communications related to the NY CHAMPS Project and EnCoRe MoMs study.
  • Serve as an administrative and research support to all faculty and staff related to the NY CHAMPS Project and EnCoRe MoMs study.
  • Monitor expenditures for the project and work with Financial team on yearly budgets and subcontracts.
  • Coordinate CHARGE Board meetings and materials.
  • Coordinate meetings with the Implementation Science Hub at the University of Pennsylvania.
  • Coordinate meetings and materials with the Data Innovation and Coordinating Hub at Johns Hopkins University
  • Manage all aspects of operations management including working closely with faculty and staff in completing all administrative aspects of programs implementation.
  • Ensure that all supplies and material needed for the projects are obtained.

Regulatory Management

  • Coordinate and manage regulatory procedures for human subject research.
  • Process IRB submissions including new submissions and modifications.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports including annual NIH Progress reports, regulatory reports to funding and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance is met and regulatory files are audit-ready at all times.
  • Oversee and coordinate the logistics of research procedures conducted at core facilities.
  • Manage MTAs/ DUAs related to the project as needed.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned/needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience; plus, four years of relevant work experience in project management, maternal health research, and community engagement.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior research experience preferred. Strong preference for internal candidates.
  • Previous experience working on RASCAL, Columbia Sponsored Project administration preferred.
  • Previous experience managing large multisite projects or programs.
  • Previous experience with NIH grants.
  • Master's degree preferred.
