Position Summary

As a member of the Americas Learning & Development Team, you are tasked with supporting White & Case to deliver on our 2025 vision of a Client Experience that sets us apart through Distinctive Client Experience, Compelling Offering, Future Proof and New Ways of Working.
You will play a key role in continuing the growth of the Learning and Development offering in line with our 2025 strategy and beyond, defining and executing the strategic learning and development imperatives to underpin this vision and deliver rewarding careers of our people, primarily focused on people based in the Firm's 10 offices in the Americas.
You will be responsible for assisting in the design, implementation, and evaluation of solutions that facilitate professional development and continuous learning for lawyers across the Firm. Your scope will include improving the capability and performance of our lawyers through both formal and informal learning channels, utilizing a full range of modalities, from physical and virtual classroom, through eLearning, coaching, mentoring and social and collaborative learning.
You will work with stakeholders across the business to identify learning needs and implement solutions to suit business needs and wider objectives. There will be an emphasis on career development and the employee experience across all levels.

Duties and Accountabilities1

Program Development and Management

  • In collaboration with the Global and Americas L&D teams and wider People team, assist in the continuing development of the Firm's lawyer professional skills training offerings, including Milestone programs, to ensure alignment with Firm strategy, values, Employee Value Proposition, and career frameworks
  • Plan, design, and deliver Milestone programs, including by drafting program outlines, leading preparation sessions, liaising with internal and external presenters and subject matter experts to design content
  • Measure training effectiveness in terms of impact on business goals, behavior change, and return on investment; monitor and adjust accordingly
  • Track progress of learning solutions against identified need and measures of success
  • Work with Professional Support Lawyer(s) to plan and deliver Trial Academy programs (depositions, motions, and bench), including working with partner faculty and overseeing Americas and Remote L&D Coordinators
  • Be the point of contact for training requests from Regional Sections and respond to requests, bringing the Americas Senior Manager into the discussion where appropriate

Stakeholder Management and Collaboration

  • Develop relationships and collaborate with Firm stakeholders, including Partners, Business Services Leaders, Associate Empowerment Committee members, People Advisory, Knowledge and CLE teams, Practice Support Lawyers, Diversity & Inclusion team, Global Technology Services, Marketing and Business Development
  • Be recognized as a "trusted advisor" and internal consultant to the Firm on learning solutions, advising on best practices, and supporting colleagues across the Firm as appropriate
  • Liaise with the Junior Associate Experience team, ensuring alignment with junior associate and early career talent programs
  • Maintain clear, effective lines of communication, keeping stakeholders informed on compliance, new initiatives, developments, business issues, and other critical topics
  • Maintain regular contact with lawyers and business services professionals at all levels within region, and with global L&D team

Operations

  • Oversee the work of junior team members, who are focused on day-to-day operations
  • Review, write and present business cases to the Americas Senior Manager for learning events and projects where needed
  • Present on L&D offerings at practice group and team meetings and other Firm events
  • According to skills and experience, assist the Americas L&D team in organization and delivery of office, practice, and function-based training
  • Assist in developing and implementing internal communications strategy on L&D offerings
  • Author and implement intranet posts, stakeholder emails, e-learning bites, and other internal communications and collateral to make our people aware of the resources the L&D team offers
  • According to skills and experience, work with the Global L&D team on global projects including mentoring, coaching, and other needs as they arise
  • Oversee the preparation of our day-to-day L&D offerings and materials to prepare us for the new HR Enterprise system, "Workday" and "Workday Learning"

Vendor Management

  • Source vendors for specific needs and quality assure their design work and facilitation, ensuring that it is in line with our values and contains the latest thinking
  • Assist in managing relationships with, and evaluating, external training consultants, coaches, e-learning content providers, and other vendors
  • Agree and handle vendor contracts, in line with Procurement's procedures

Technology

  • Knowledge of MS Office products used for analysis and presentation of data, specifically MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams
  • Expert with meeting technology such as Zoom, WebEx, Teams, etc.
  • Working knowledge of sourcing, implementing and running new learning technologies
  • Ability to travel within region, if required

Qualifications

  • At least four years' experience in attorney/other professional field development, or four years' combined legal practice and attorney/professional development experience
  • Bachelor's degree required; J.D. preferred
  • Coaching qualification desirable
  • Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills a plus

Location and Reporting

  • This is a hybrid in-office/remote role based in our New York office. Travel to other White & Case offices in the Americas region may be required.
  • This role reports to the Americas Senior Learning & Development Manager.
