Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide exceptional customer service to Alexandria LaunchLabs member companies at both LaunchLabs NYC sites relating to the following laboratory and site operational needs:
Shared responsibility for the day-to-day management of Alexandria-owned lab equipment, including, but not limited to, flow cytometers, qPCRs, microscopes, freezers, incubators, centrifuges, and biosafety cabinets
Develop (with third party vendors as necessary) standard operating procedures and programs for laboratory safety, safety training, chemical inventories, laboratory audits, laboratory operational permits, hazardous waste disposal, and maintain accurate and up-to-date records on all training, permits and incidents.
Train and assist tenants on use of shared lab equipment
Responsible for ordering, maintaining, organizing, and stocking lab supplies and lab gasses
Manage chemical and biohazard waste in both facilities while adhering to regulatory guidance
Support the LaunchLabs lab safety program
Assist with general site operations, including package management, IT/AV troubleshooting, facilities request triaging, organizing, stocking, and maintaining office and kitchen supplies as needed
Interface with Alexandria Asset Services teams and vendors responsible for operational tasks (e.g., janitorial, pest control, lab vendors, facilities maintenance)
Assist the LaunchLabs team in coordinating, marketing, and hosting local ecosystem and strategic programming events to foster a vibrant and collaborative Alexandria LaunchLabs community, including business and professional development sessions, social gatherings, and complementary programs
Establish lab sustainability initiatives and educate tenants on existing programs
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum 2 years of experience working in a science-related organization or laboratory space, preferably in a collaborative or shared working environment
Strong customer service mindset and verbal and written communication skills to interact with individuals at all levels
Strong ability to be detail-oriented and highly organized, and to work independently
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and prioritize tasks effectively
Ability to complete or have previously completed relevant FDNY, DOT, IATA, OSHA, Biosafety, and Chemical Safety trainings
A general interest in life science and/or laboratory operations management
Ability to regularly work across multiple lab sites and travel to Manhattan within a reasonable time in case of lab emergencies
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Ability to physically lift ≥25 lbs.
The expected base salary range for this position is $95,000 to $130,000 USD annually, plus annual discretionary bonus. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the consideration of many factors, which may include, but are not limited to: the individual’s knowledge, experience, education, qualifications, skills, job location, and the Company’s compensation practices.
