Job Information

Educational Alliance, Inc. Institutional Giving Associate in New York, New York

Please note that only applications with a cover letter and resume will be considered.

Educational Alliance was founded in 1889, and is one of New York City’s original settlement houses. Today, EA partners with the diverse communities of Lower Manhattan to offer New Yorkers high-quality, transformational programs and services that enhance their well-being and socio-economic opportunities. Educational Alliance has a powerful impact on our community through intertwined programs that include education, arts and culture, substance abuse and prevention, older adult services, health and wellness, and community-building. We believe that the right programs can dramatically unleash the potential – for happiness, productivity, and creativity – in people who often don’t have that opportunity. All EA programs have a firm commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and community.

Educational Alliance emphasizes innovation and flexibility in our programming that allows us to explore new initiatives in social services delivery. Examples include a one-of-a-kind early childhood program that integrates families from all social strata, a family resource center that marshals an incredible array of services in a “one-stop shop”, and a drug treatment program that holistically addresses the underlying, individual causes of addiction. Many of these programs have served as models for government and other nonprofits nationwide.

JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Director of Institutional Giving, the Institutional Giving Associate will manage a portfolio of new and existing foundational and government funders that support (1) our older adult services division and (2) agency-wide operations. EA operates four programs for older adults: the Sirovich Center for Balanced Living, the Weinberg Center for Balanced Living, the Co-op Village Naturally Occurring Retirement Community, and Project ORE. The centers are tailored to address the interests and needs of older adults, placing health and wellness at the core of all programming. The services enable our members to remain active, connected to and living safely in their communities. These centers blend traditional services like shared group meals and case management, with non-traditional services like advanced exercise classes, an extensive arts program, spirituality and meditation workshops, intergenerational programming with young volunteers, and extended hours. Our Centers have been recognized as a model for innovative services by the New York City Department of Aging.

As the Institutional Giving Associate, you will be responsible for leading and managing the process of developing letters of inquiry and writing narrative grant proposals and reports to a range of current and prospective private foundations and government agencies in support of this essential programming. Finally, you will manage grants and contracts from pre-proposal through award, reporting, and closeout.
