FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Physical Therapy at Hunter College, The City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for tenure track Faculty position (Assistant or Associate) to begin in August 2025. Primary responsibilities include teaching in your area of expertise, service to the department and college, and maintaining an active scholarly agenda. Teaching will include both primary and co-instruction. This tenure-track faculty line is eligible for tenure after 7 years of successful re-appointments with a record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service to the department, college and the profession.

The Department enjoys research, teaching collaborations, and clinical affiliations with major medical centers throughout the tristate and metropolitan area. The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program has dedicated classroom/laboratory space, and a Movement Analysis Lab with state-of-the-art technology including ViconTM motion tracking system, ZenoTM walkway system, AMTITM portable and fixed force plates, and more. Faculty have access to the New York Simulation Center for the Health Sciences (NYSIM) and inter-professional teaching opportunities across CUNY campuses.

About the Hunter College Doctor of Physical Therapy Program

The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program is part of the Hunter College School of Health Professions. Currently located at the Brookdale Campus, on the east side of Manhattan, the Department will be moving to newly renovated space at the main campus for a transitional period while SPARC, the Science Park and Research Center, is built. SPARC will house new, state of the art facilities for the School of Health Professions.

QUALIFICATIONS

For Assistant or Associate:

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Required Qualifications:

• PhD, EdD, DSc or equivalent preferred.

• Expertise in Orthopedic Therapy or Neurological Therapy with Board Certification preferred; candidates with other specialty areas will be considered.

• 5 years of experience in a specialty area of clinical practice.

• Teaching experience at an accredited Physical Therapy program.

• A record of scholarly activity and an established research agenda.

• History of active participation in the American Physical Therapy Association and other professional leadership experiences are desired.

• Holds an active PT license and is eligible for licensure in New York State.

This is a tenure track position with title (Assistant or Associate Professor) and salary commensurate with experience.
