Job Description:
Position Title: Director, US Finance, US wholesale corporate accounting
Business Unit: TD Securities
Division/Region: TD Securities USA (New York)
Report Location: New York Office
TD Securities is looking for a highly skilled and technology savvy Director level to join its US Wholesale Controllers group within US Finance in New York City. This role reports directly to the Assistant VP who runs the US wholesale controllers' group under the US CFO.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation and consolidation of the monthly close. The candidate will review entries and reconciliations for the books of broker dealers and non-broker dealer entities. Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Produce a complete monthly consolidation file by overseeing elimination entries, equity rolls and all aspects of an efficient US and Non US financial reporting function.
Oversee a small team of corporate accountants to work collaboratively to achieve a timely close along side the Broker Dealer reporting and Financial Operations teams
Assisting with preparation, analysis and proper documentation of monthly accounting entries in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS
Overseeing foreign currency affects and translation adjustments.
Assist with the preparation and support of various accounts (including accruals, intercompany reconciliations, compensation)
Assisting with external and internal audit requests including preparation of reconciliations, organizing documents and responding to inquiries
Improve data accuracy, and support data-driven decision-making
Maintain strong internal controls and keep process documentation up-to-date
Performing special projects and ad hoc management reporting as required
Support strategic and tactical projects, including working with external teams to plan and implement upgraded sub-ledger system
Chart of accounts management and mapping
Prepare and assist with disclosures on quarterly/annual basis and other reporting obligations
Adherence with firm's account reconciliation and attestation policy, including liaising with Operations & Reconciliation Control teams to resolve issues
Qualifications :
Bachelors Degree in Accounting (Masters a plus) - CPA or CPA candidate a plus
8+ years post-undergraduate experience in public accounting and/or financial services
Organized, detail oriented and self motivated individual with strong analytical skills
Very good understanding of accounting principles and GAAP as well as IFRS
Understanding of public company Sarbanes-Oxley controls and importance of adherence to them
Extremely proficient in Microsoft Excel and various automation tools and resources (Power BI, Alteryx, Power query, pivot tables, advanced formulas) a plus
Ability to work within deadlines while still providing a high-quality work product
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The Director Finance TDS oversees a significant Business Finance unit / specialized Finance function / operational group or centre of expertise that provides analysis, reporting, guidance and advice to various internal stakeholders and external parties.
Depth & Scope:
Oversees a team of Finance professionals for key business segments or a significantly large part of the organization.
Requires in-depth shareholder and/or broad financial and business perspective.
Accountable for setting strategy / objectives for own Finance unit based on direction from executive management.
Scope may include integration of activities and Finance support for several key business lines.
Focuses on longer-range issues dealing with and solving highly sensitive, confidential and/or multifaceted and complex financial management issues.
Acts as primary interface and high level resource to Business leaders on financial performance measures / business objectives / goals.
