Job Description

An immediate opportunity is available for an Associate Director, Integrated Media Sales responsible for generating and cultivating integrated media sales in the NJ Spotlight and NJ PBS market to reach revenue goals.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Corporate Engagement, the Associate Director will work collaboratively with the Vice President/GM NJ PBS and the Senior Director of Development, NJ PBS and NJ Spotlight to develop and implement sales efforts targeted to existing and potential corporate partners for local programming and integrated media assets. The Associate Director is responsible for making sales calls to build strong working relationships with media buying agencies and clients, responding to ad/media buying agency requests for available inventory, and developing cross platform sales presentations using audience and demographic data. The Associate Director will work in a highly collaborative environment to develop new clients and revenue generating strategies for integrated corporate partnerships and will oversee the execution of these partnerships once secured. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop and build strong relationships with clients and agencies to sell, execute and renew local media sales across NJ Spotlight, NJ PBS linear TV, digital and streaming platforms to agency media buyers and/or direct to clients;
  • Prospect new business across our platforms from new and/or existing corporate partners;
  • Maintain a high level of sales activity within the local New Jersey market;
  • Facilitate the NJ Spotlight Roundtable Series and fully leverage for generating and cultivating media sales;
  • Respond to and service agency requests for media partnerships, working with Research, Marketing Services and Production to craft submissions;
  • Create effective media plans and effectively negotiate rates and placement;
  • Meet with clients in-person and via video conference meetings as needed;
  • Execute contracts and service clients;
  • Develop new presentations in collaboration with VP/GM and Senior Director emphasizing an integrated multiplatform approach to corporate partnerships;
  • Work closely with Research to provide timely, updated research information highlighting the benefits of NJ Spotlight, NJ PBS and the portfolio of opportunities;
  • Seek and recommend new ways to generate revenue from current and planned programming;
  • Work closely with Marketing Services to track inventory, revenue, budgets, billing, and media post reports;
  • Additional responsibilities, as assigned.

Qualified candidates will need to be well organized with the ability to develop strong working relationships at all levels. Additional qualifications include:
  • A minimum of 6 years of media and sponsorship sales experience in a competitive market sales environment; Candidates with corporate philanthropy experience and/or knowledge of the local NJ market preferred;
  • Demonstrated track record of cross-platform media sales, achieving media goals, successful engagement with media buying agencies and working directly with clients;
  • Proficiency with media research and programming; knowledge of Nielsen and Scarborough data and metrics;
  • Deep understanding of media sales, marketing, events, social media, and promotions;
  • Strong computer skills, especially Salesforce, Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word;
  • Capacity to work under pressure and balance deadlines;
  • Outstanding presentation skills with ability to present to groups;
  • The ability to participate in evening and weekend events will be necessary.

This is a hybrid position. The incumbent will be expected to attend meetings in the NJ PBS offices (Newark, NJ) and in the WNET offices.

The WNET Group offers competitive salaries, excellent benefits, and a supportive working environment. Salary ranges are based on benchmarked nonprofit and industry related data provided by an outside consulting firm and are commensurate with skills and experience. The hiring salary range for this position is $95,000 - $105,000. Internal equity considerations will be reviewed before making a final offer.
