Highbridge Capital Management is seeking an Associate Data Engineer to join our team, reporting directly to the Head of Investment Technology. This team is dedicated to developing innovative technology solutions that empower our investment professionals with the data, analytics, and applications essential for making informed day-to-day investment decisions. In recent years, the creation, utilization, and capture of Highbridge's proprietary data, along with third-party market data, have experienced significant growth fueled by an increase in assets under management and transactional volumes as well as Highbridge's increasingly systematic, data-driven approach to investing. To support this growth, Highbridge is committed to streamlining its data capture processes while upholding the highest standards of data quality and integrity. The Associate Data Engineer will play a crucial role in driving these initiatives, enhancing our data capabilities and contributing to the overall success of our investment strategies.
Job Responsibilities:
The Data Engineer will play a vital role in ensuring the effectiveness and reliability of the firm's data. This position requires seamless collaboration with the firm's Technology, Risk, Operations and Investment teams during critical periods to maintain data integrity and ensure that essential applications have the necessary data to function optimally. Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Data Models:
Develop a comprehensive understanding of our database structures across Oracle, SQL Server, and Snowflake
Acquire in-depth knowledge of the data architecture within our Portfolio Accounting system to support data-driven decision-making
Work with proprietary and vendor data models to optimize data integration and utilization, aiming to enhance business performance and investment outcomes
Data Engineering and Analysis:
Collaborate with the investment team to identify data capture and analysis requirements for new investment initiatives
Manage and understand data relationships within our database environments to ensure data integrity
Create and implement reconciliation processes to proactively identify and resolve data discrepancies across systems
Documentation and Knowledge Transfer:
Document data requirements, standards, and workflows in the firm's internal knowledge repository, ensuring transparency and accessibility for all stakeholders
Provide timely communication regarding new data anomalies to ensure prompt resolution
Operational Support:
Troubleshoot T-1 data issues across reference data systems to maintain operational continuity.
Understand and manage Start-of-Day data dependencies across systems, focusing on investment and trading applications
Risk and Client Reporting Consistency:
Assist in maintaining data consistency across the firm's various sources to ensure accurate and reliable risk/investment and client reporting, addressing the challenges posed by the proliferation of data within the firm
Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills:
Education: Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics)
Experience: 3-5 years of data experience in the financial services industry
Meticulous Attention to Detail: A strong commitment to precision and adherence to process is essential
Entrepreneurial Mindset: Exhibits energy, intellectual curiosity and a strong dedication to achieving results
Strong Intellectual Capacity: Highly proficient in SQL
