Overview

The Account Director role is responsible for the day to day management and smooth operations of national public health and public service initiatives. The role requires proactively managing on-going client strategies and deliverables. The Account Director is expected to be a strategic client contact and advisor, with contributory and participatory engagement with key client contacts. This is both a thinking and doing role, with thought leadership, strategic leadership, on-going connectivity and deliverable management as key parts of the day-to-day responsibilities.

Reports to Senior Vice President

Responsibilities

  • Leads and manages the client relationship on across the full ecosystem of a national public health and public service campaigns, including creative, creative rotations, media (social, earned, paid, owned), and partnerships

  • Responsible for developing and stewarding the brand strategy and effectively develops and delivers strong thinking that is endorsed by the client

  • Contributes to and may be accountable for new business development opportunities

  • Responsible for staffing, managing and leading the assigned account team and sharing insights on team development and staffing on subcontractor deliverables

Client Relationship

  • Key client facing profile. Must provide client centric approach and outstanding client service & relationship building. Proactively manages relationship with clients and seeks opportunities to strengthen/build new relationships as needed

  • Seeks opportunities to showcase agency work among current and prospective clients

  • Finds opportunities to grow business within current accounts, as applicable

  • Be and be seen as point person for senior client

  • Excellent presentation skills, with ability to synthesize complex information into crisp insights and digestible communications. Powerpoint document expertise a must

  • Demonstrates ability to adapt to various client corporate cultures

  • Solves client issues, independently moderates conflicts with significant complexity and sensitivity

Agency Operations

  • Understands agency revenue and profitability model and ensures work is completed within budget by project. Works with finance and leadership on revenue and forecast for the campaign and provides input to fee estimates. Vigilantly seeks to optimize agency services and internal resources

  • Keeps management informed of account status, problems, plans, and meetings and gets senior management involved as needed

  • Serves as team leader to both cross-functional agency team and to client. Provides assistance related to agency/team/management policies and practices.

  • Advances best practices in agency process

  • Develops staff and mentors team members

Knowledge

  • Intellectually curious, continuous learner that consistently brings forward new information and new perspectives

  • Approaches brand from holistic marketing perspective. Integrates emerging technologies into client recommendations

  • Comprehensive understanding of client's business and has a thorough understanding of industry business trends. Alert to changes in clients’ marketplace. Has broad knowledge of what’s going on in the marketplace to offer solutions to clients

  • Cultivates relationships with appropriate thought leaders to help maintain solid knowledge of client’s business

  • Expert in multi channels and multi audiences – enough knowledge to be able to act agnostically when making decisions on behalf of the client

Strategy

  • Responsible for developing and stewarding campaign strategies. Responsible for crisp and timely and stellar level of quality control communications. Is sought as strategic leader by the team.

  • Spearheads the presentation to client of annual plans, pilot plan opportunities and any necessary interim adjustments that will continue to grow the breadth and impact of the campaign

Tactics and Execution

  • Communicates strategy and tactical plan flawlessly and effectively. Responsible for flawless execution at the highest level of quality control

  • Provides clear strategic direction to agency team. Evaluates creative product against strategic direction and provides constructive feedback

  • Approaches brand from holistic marketing perspective, looks at all media and forms of digital marketing, communications and advertising to develop outcomes that meet client objectives

  • Proactively coordinates and integrates across all agencies at senior management’s direction, as needed

  • Solid knowledge of company businesses, offerings, and tools

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required, Master’s degree a plus

  • 5+ years experience in managing commercial and/or non-profit business interests

  • 2+ years experience managing others

  • Channel agnostic as exhibited by experience in consumer marketing, traditional paid media, digital, earned media

  • Proactive and action oriented. Detail-oriented and consistent high performer in setting objectives and meeting them

  • Exhibits integrity and trust

  • Strong verbal and written communicator with ability to effectively communicate complex information credibly, effectively and confidently at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, both remotely and on-site at client engagement

  • Regularly demonstrates critical thinking skills

  • Ability to think both analytically and creatively; to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines and to respond to frequent needs of complex client

Compensation Range: $119,510 - $188,025 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
