Overview:

The Client Insights & Analytics team exists to support data driven decision making within the Global Banking and Markets division.

The mandate of the team is to:

• Increase Scotiabank’s relevance with corporate and institutional clients

• Develop client strategies in partnership with GBM business lines and drive execution through data analytics

• Leverage internal and external client data to facilitate opportunity identification

• Support the monitoring of financial performance against plans, initiatives and objectives

• Define and deliver CRM software enhancements that drive business value

• Liaise with technology to enhance data quality and integrity

In this role, the Associate Director will work closely with the Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) Management, GBM US COO, and designated business leaders to assist with the design, development, and execution of GBM US Strategy.

The Associate Director will be responsible for driving initiatives related to business-line and client strategy across 4 primary pillars: (1) Management Insights and Strategy (2) Customer Relationship Management (3) Reporting; and (4) Client Data. In addition to supporting strategic initiatives, the Associate Director will be responsible for day-to-day CIB Business Line support regarding client data, reporting, and CRM.

What You’ll Do

• Supports GBM US business lines in prioritizing, conceptualizing, and producing client intelligence and decision support tools across four pillars: (1) Management Insights and Strategy (2) Customer Relationship Management (3) Reporting; and (4) Client Data

• Assumes accountability for tracking business requirements, managing timelines and driving project delivery

• Supports change management initiatives as new operational processes and strategies are introduced

• Thinks creatively to address ambiguous situations and find solutions to non-routine problems

• Partners with the business to align key performance indicators with financial forecasts and plans

• Leverages internal and third-party data to support competitive analysis and opportunity identification

• Consolidates information to create reporting using business intelligence tools (Tableau, Power BI)

• Partners with the Salesforce development team to design and deliver platform enhancements

• Collaborates with internal stakeholders (Front Office, GBM COO, Global Wholesale Technology, Data Governance, Onboarding, GRM) to enable more efficient processes, enhanced data availability and/or streamlined reporting

• Investigates discrepancies, reconciles source data, and monitors reporting suite to ensure reasonability

• Supports ad hoc analysis requests as required

What You’ll Bring

• 5+ years of relevant experience in financial services, reporting and / or analytics roles

• In-depth knowledge of wholesale banking products, with a focus on corporate lending

• Self-starter with strong quantitative judgment and analytical skills

• High level of proficiency managing large data sets

• Experience designing and delivering reporting using Tableau / Power BI / Salesforce

• Advanced Excel (VBA, Pivot Tables, Nested Formulas, Charting) and PowerPoint

• Proven ability to interpret data, spot patterns, anomalies, and opportunities

• Previous experience presenting to senior executives and creating supporting materials

• Able to manage multiple stakeholders and form cross-functional partnerships

• Refined verbal and written communication skills

• Well-developed problem-solving and organizational skills

• Able to manage multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously

• Post-secondary degree in business, economics, math, computer science or a related field of study

• CFA / CPA or equivalent designation preferred
