Savencia Cheese USA Yard Jockey - 2nd Shift, $23/hr + $2.50/hr Shift Differential in New Holland, Pennsylvania

Summary/Objective

This position drives a tractor-trailer to move all materials required to and from production plant and warehouses. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure drivers are operating as efficient and safe as possible.

Essential Functions

  • Keeps empty trailers at production docks available for loading product off the lines

  • Moves trailers from production docks to warehouse docks

  • Announces the arrival of a transfer trailer to the warehouse using the proper form of communication

  • Jockeys trailers throughout plant, warehouses and yards

  • Makes local customer deliveries and acts as occasional fleet driver back up

  • Pick up at local area vendors as required

  • Checks and maintains fuel and oil levels in all trailer reefers and reports any malfunctions or maintenance required to supervisor

  • Assists in loading, unloading, pallet sorting or any other jobs as instructed by supervisor

  • Requires flexible maneuverability to operate trucks, tractors, lift trucks and pallet jacks

  • Communicates with Supervisors, Material Handlers, and Forklift Operators to assure proper movement of trailers throughout the plant and warehouse

  • Complies with all procedures following an accident

  • Completes all required paperwork as assigned, including the Driver Truck Tracker Trailer Inspection Report and Food Safety Management System

  • Required to pick up Fleet drivers on the road

  • Maintains regular, predictable attendance

  • Other duties as assigned

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in an environment with the following conditions

  • The use of steel-toed safety shoes, long pants, hard hats in the warehouse and other personal protective equipment is required

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours vary depending on the shift and department. Overtime and weekend work is required at times as approved by supervisor. Provides vacation coverage as needed.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Basic mechanical aptitude

  • Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend English.

  • CDL class A license and forklift license

  • 3-6 months tractor trailer driving experience

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience working in a food manufacturing environment

  • 1-3 years tractor trailer driving experience

  • 3-6 months forklift experience
