Long-Term Care Specialty Unit Manager- $6,000 Sign-On Bonus!

Shift: Monday - Friday 7am - 3pm

Salary Range - $79,000-85,000

Based on Experience

Duties:

Responsible for the overall clinical functioning of the Long-Term Care Specialty Unit assigned over 24hr. period in conjunction with Supervisor.

Is responsible for the daily clinical needs of each Long-Term Care Specialty Unit resident and delegates duties to unit staff to assure continuity of care and services to residents over 24-hr. period.

Monitor unit staff for proper implementation of departmental policies and procedures, identify weak areas of training and make appropriate employee referrals to education and training.

Supervises the scheduling of employee's time to maintain adequate nursing coverage for unit.

Completes performance evaluations for all CNA's, nurses for the Long-Term Care Specialty Unit.

Regularly inspects Long-Term Care Specialty Unit to ensure compliance with federal, state and local standards. Contacts ancillary departments when issues arise related to provision of services either directly or environmentally in need of attention.

Acts as liaison between medical staff and families regarding patient care issues.

Assigns staff to in-service training and assures compliance.

Completes fall risk assessment and Braden Scales quarterly prior to care plan review per MDS schedule.

Responsible for facility supervisory shift coverage as deemed necessary by D.O.N.

Actively participates in:

  • Quality Assurance Committee

  • Safety Committee

  • Leadership Management Meeting

  • Morning Report

  • Skin Care Meeting

Determines need for notifications of physician, families and/or administration of events occurring on shift.

Attends weekly care plan meetings for residents and/or assigns appropriate staff to attend.

Access to entire medical record of all patient's/resident's.

Performs duties according to the highest ethical and moral standards and in adherence with the facility's corporate compliance plan and applicable governing laws. Adheres to the facility's confidentiality statement in accessing and safeguarding protected health information (PHI) of residents and employees, as necessary to perform job duties.

Performs any other duties assigned by the D.O.N.

Job Requirements:

Graduate of an approved/accredited School of Nursing and currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.

Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.

Previous leadership experience with at least two years of supervisory experience in the nursing field.

Ability to organize, plan and implement nursing service policies and procedures.

Displays an active interest in pursuing continuing education to keep knowledge and skills current.

Knowledge of completion Minimum Data Set (MDS) preferred.

Demonstrates competency by completing an annual job specific skills checklist.

Preferred experience or training in long-term care setting.
