Indium Corporation Buyer in New Hartford, New York
JOB SUMMARY: The Buyer is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of purchasing requisitions; maintaining related records and system information; price negotiations to achieve cost efficiency; and conducting research and delivering conclusions in connection with product purchases and corporate purchasing initiatives.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (COMPETENCIES)
• Receive and review electronic purchase requisitions from Indium internal customers
• Consult with originators as needed to clarify request and revise requisitions accordingly
• Convert purchase requisitions to purchase orders using appropriate software system
• Confer with suppliers for product/service information such as prices, availability, and delivery; negotiate to achieve best prices; and expedite requests and orders as-needed
• Maintain accuracy of the vendor item cross reference data-base
• Build, maintain and execute from a supplier acquisition pipeline
• Develop commodity and risk management strategies with support from Supervisor to ensure uninterrupted supply and to meet cost reduction targets as established
• Manage vendor relationships including supplier reviews, quality issues, and billing issues
• Conduct research, summarize conclusions and make recommendations on items requested by department managers and in connection with corporate initiatives
• Utilize electronic filing system for record retention and train others on system operation
• Administer corporate purchasing card program, including user set-up/training, and transaction review
• Maintain procurement records; produce reports; compile purchasing metrics
• Manage vendor relationships including supplier reviews, quality issues, and billing issues
• Delegate work to the Purchasing Assistant and review output
• Performs other duties and special projects as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
• Associate’s degree in business or technical field required; bachelor’s degree preferred
• 5 years of work-related experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
• Knowledgeable or trained in negotiation tactics
• Fluency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook as well as ERP software
• Excellent oral and written communication skills including preparing and presenting technical and corporate presentations
• Proficient with Excel especially with Pivot tables creating
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Aptitude and desire to gain market knowledge and translate into meaningful conclusions such as potential price increases/decreases and/or impact the continuity of supply of relevant materials
• Provide own source of transportation for any local/day travel, including travel between Indium Corporation facilities

WAGE DISCLOSURE:
The salary range indicated in this posting represents the minimum and maximum of the range for the position. The actual range will vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, prior experience, knowledge, skill and education as they relate to the position’s qualifications, and internal equity.
The posted salary range reflects just one component of our total rewards package. Other components include health, dental, and vision insurance, PTO, retirement plan, volunteer opportunities, paid holidays, overtime opportunities, and many more.
$22.00 per hour - $33.75 per hour
($46,000 - $70,000 annually)
