Responsibilities:
Administrative Support:
Efficiently manage department administrative tasks, including coordinating patient tests, scheduling transports, and running errands.
Provide courteous and professional service to all callers, both internal and external.
Maintain and order CyraCom equipment, print report sheets, and manage Responder 5 and phone assignments.
Build and maintain patient charts, file documents, and manage auto-print reports, including the OR schedule.
Update Bedboards and communicate changes to staff, ensuring timely and accurate entry of physician orders.
Handle work orders for malfunctioning equipment and print chart copies upon request.
Complete patient admissions, discharges, and transfers through the electronic health record system.
Order parking passes, manage cashier functions, and request transport in teletracking.
Check crash carts, fire equipment, and defibrillators, distribute mail, and perform unit audits.
Initiate quiet time and monitor noise levels to maintain a peaceful environment. Destination Coordination:
Warmly greet patients and families, providing directions and escort assistance to ensure they reach their destinations.
Share patient information with visitors while respecting confidentiality and hospital policies.
Issue courtesy parking discounts, free passes, and patient scooters as needed.
Assist with parking cashier functions and validate patient parking.
Track patient belongings upon admission. Dietary Services:
Assemble and serve meals according to diet orders and patient or guest requirements.
Maintain food safety and quality by adhering to HACCP principles and department procedures.
Perform sanitation tasks and deliver patient meal trays, ensuring proper identification.
Provide additional nourishments upon request and follow all safety and sanitation regulations. Environmental Services:
Clean and organize assigned areas, including patient rooms, public areas, and offices, following established procedures.
Replenish supplies, make beds, and change linens in patient discharge rooms and on-call rooms.
Inspect and report maintenance issues to a supervisor. General Duties:
Answer unit phones, respond to call lights, and interact with patients to assess their needs.
Round hourly to ensure all responsibilities are met satisfactorily.
Print and distribute daily plans of care and prompt patient mobility as appropriate.
Maintain resources like pamphlets and department contacts, complete audits, and update bulletin boards.
Adhere to hand hygiene and infection control procedures consistently.
Follow mandatory reporting procedures for any incidents affecting patient care.
Distribute medications to nurses and exhibit UPMC Values and key behaviors in all responsibilities.
Perform other duties as assigned. Supply & Equipment Management:
Order and organize unit-specific supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate quantities.
Deliver supplies, equipment, and materials to patient units and other designated areas.
Stock patient rooms, supply areas, and maintain refrigerator and temperature logs.
Inventory and manage pumps, monitor supply inventory, and collaborate with supply chain management.
Perform additional unit-specific tasks as needed. Transportation Services:
Safely transport patients, equipment, and lab specimens between units and treatment centers.
Inspect and disinfect transportation equipment, record transportation data, and report activities to a supervisor.
Enter equipment repair requests and ensure transportation equipment is in good condition.
Must have the desire, drive, and compassion needed to provide an exceptional patient and family experience at all times
High School diploma OR one year of previous job experience required in lieu of HS Diploma/GED.
6 months of experience as a Patient & Family Concierge or equivalent
Demonstrated competency in all responsibilities of Patient & Family Concierge role
Internal promotions to this level are based on the discretion of the business units assessment of employee performance
Completion of 1 annual contribution from these options: hospital/department committee participation, participation in departmental project, peer interviewer, onboarding/precepting of other Experience Concierges
