Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Physician Assistant for the Center for Dermatology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Under the direction and supervision of the Director of the Center, the PA will provide varied dermatological patient care services to patients, in an outpatient setting at World's Fair Drive in Somerset, NJ. The PA will also participate in the oncall schedule with other providers.Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Examines dermatology patients, writes prescriptions, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
  • Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as skin biopsies, and other laboratory tests. Interprets test results for deviations from the normal.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, and managing infection.
  • Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in the provision of continuity of care.
  • Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
  • In conjunction with the medical staff, develops and maintains all requirements related to regulatory agencies of the local, state, and federal government.
  • Performs all billing and administrative responsibilities in a timely manner, as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant studies or related field.
  • Graduation from a Physician Assistant program approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
Certifications/Licenses
  • Certification from the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • New Jersey license from the State Board of Medical Examiners-Physician Advisory Committee.
