Our Dog and Cat business unit is searching for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Commodity Buyer who will be responsible for the Nylabone purchasing initiatives for maintaining inventory of raw materials to meet forecasted sales from S&OP. The Buyer will be responsible for placing purchase orders for materials, equipment, and services in support of production operations. This position will report on-site 5x a week to our Neptune City, NJ facility.MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
  • Place orders with suppliers in line with S&OP Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to ensure that manufacturing schedules and finished goods inventory objectives are met.
  • Ensure materials are delivered in accordance with all scheduling, specification, and quality requirements.
  • Track POs for on-time delivery
  • Revise POs for ship dates, quantity, and pricing when necessary.
  • Advise necessary parties when orders/items will be late, and maintain open communication until goods arrive- both with vendor and internal teams.
  • Assist Quality in resolving supplier quality issues.
  • Partner with Production and Warehouse Management to ensure accuracy of inventory.
  • Work with multiple departments and cross-functional teams on projects for new product
  • Prepare purchase orders and expedite as needed.
  • Review shipment invoices as necessary- act as a liaison between vendor and Accounts Payable to reconcile any issues.
  • Perform other job-related functions as assigned.

IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business and/or 3+ years of experience in purchasing or a related field.
  • Experience in the manufacturing and food production industry is highly preferred.
  • Ability to maintain complete confidentiality and discretion in business relationships and exercise sound business judgment.
  • Knowledge of raw material markets and supply chain management.
  • Computer proficiency in all MS Office applications.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
