Description: Position Title: Manager of Agriculture

Reports to: Senior Director of Interpretation

Position Type: Year-round, full time (2,080 hours)

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Manager of Agriculture is responsible for the operation and management of all farm spaces. With the support of a small team, they are responsible for the day-to-day running of our historic farm including the management and care of our farm animals; sheep, chickens, geese, pigs and oxen. This position will work closely with the Manager of Gardens and Crops to coordinate crop planning, tillage, planting, maintenance, and harvest. They will additionally work with our interpretation and education teams on museum programing around historic farming.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversite of and/or daily care of all animals ensuring their health and wellbeing. Direct and supervise regular and seasonal farm staff. Manage the Agriculture budget including purchasing, contracting and sales. Coordinate seasonal agricultural activities to be demonstrated in front of the public- i.e.: sheep shearing. In coordination with the Manager of Gardens and Crops, plan and execute yearly crop rotations including purchasing seed, tilling, sowing, and harvesting. Requirements:

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

3-5 years of experience in agriculture and/or agriculture-related fields. Experience working with bovine, sheep, fowl, and other livestock, including daily care, nutritional needs, housing and wellbeing. Demonstrated management of agricultural spaces, including fields and barns. Experience working in a dynamic team environment, managing multiple tasks simultaneously and collaborating to plan and problem-solve. Experience working with the public as an educator or interpreter. Basic computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office, Word, and Outlook.
