Description
Reporting to the Executive Director of Career Preparation and Experiential Learning, the Career Preparation & Experiential Learning Specialist is a key member of the Office of Career Preparation and Experiential Learning at the Rowan College at Burlington County. This staff member will be the first point of contact for the office, interacting with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors, providing exceptional customer service and administrative support.
This staff member will also support key departmental programs, including the campus student worker program and the online job and internship recruitment platform (Handshake). The ideal candidate will possess strong written and oral communication skills, a professional and courteous attitude, and an ability to work harmoniously with other employees, students, and the general public. This role is a full-time, in person, 35 hour per week, benefits-eligible position.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as a primary point of contact for the Office of Career Preparation and Experiential Learning, interacting regularly with RCBC students, faculty, staff, alumni, employers, and community members in person, by phone, and via email to provide general support and assistance, including matters with Handshake.
Greet and welcome students, employers, and other visitors to the CP/EL Office in a friendly and professional manner.
Monitor the departmental email account. Answer phone calls, emails, and inquiries promptly, directing them to the appropriate staff members or resources.
Schedule appointments, meetings, and interviews for career advisors and staff.
Maintain the office calendar and assist in coordinating events, workshops, presentations, and career fairs.
Assist students with basic inquiries related to resume writing, job search strategies, career resources, and experiential learning.
Support and maintain online platforms used for student career advising, tracking, and job postings.
Support the campus student worker program by completing administrative tasks associated with the hiring and onboarding process. Assist RCBC hiring managers with filling on-campus positions.
Support departmental marketing efforts, such as distributing marketing materials, promoting events, and coordination with the Marketing Department.
Interact with employers and assist with scheduling on-campus recruitment events and other career-related events. Collaborate with the RCBC Business Engagement team in the planning and coordination of these events.
Provide administrative support to the Executive Director of Career Preparation and Experiential Learning, Career Preparation Manager, and Experiential Learning Manager.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Education Required:
Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience Required:
Two (2) years’ progressively responsible experience in an academic, government or corporate environment preferred.
Experience in a higher education or workforce development environment is preferred.
Experience utilizing the Handshake platform is a plus but not required.
Skills/Abilities /Knowledge /Other Requirements
A professional and courteous manner and an ability to work harmoniously with other employees, students, and the general public.
Demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks and to manage time effectively, as well as possess excellent organization skills.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Google docs, email and office database systems.
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
Must exhibit strong customer service skills.
Ability to respect and maintain strict confidentiality in all matters related to the RCBC Office of Career Preparation and Experiential Learning.
Must abide by all policies and procedures of the college, including ethical and professional standards.
Additional Information
INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS:
Collaborates with department members and/or the Compliance, Assessment and Research team to support planning, assessment, data collection and reporting for continuous improvement of the college.
