Professional Rank and Salary Range: SL-3; $60,000 - 67,000

Duration: Calendar Year (this position follows a 12-month schedule)

Brief Description of Duties:

SUNY Morrisville is seeking an Associate Director of Residence Life and Residential Education. The Associate Director of Residence Life is responsible utilizing StarRez for occupancy management, including housing assignments, room selection processes, and access and key control, as well as serving in a leadership role in the Department through supervision of professional staff and program development. The Associate Director will also have responsibility for administrative processes that enhance the residential experience including collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and on-call support and crisis management.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Directly supervise Area Coordinators and act as secondary supervisor for the student staff reporting to professional staff. Provide guidance, direction, feedback, and evaluation to support the development of these staff members.

  • Coordinate assignments for all residential students (approximately 1,100 students) including managing room selection for returning students and new assignments for first year and transfer students. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of StarRez, our housing management software, to execute these processes and train campus staff.

  • Develop systems and procedures in collaboration with campus colleagues for room assignments, housing selection, move-in, move-out, etc.

  • Serve as a conduct administrator meeting with students with higher-level or repeat violations of the student code of conduct.

  • Oversee live-on professional and student staff recruitment, selection, and training.

  • Work with University Police and other partners to assure the safety of students on campus.

  • Participation in a rotating duty schedule and other infrequent, work-related commitments during nights and weekends.

  • Develop community building initiatives that promote inclusion within the residence halls and campus community via programs and engagement in the residential facilities.

  • Serve on departmental and campus wide committees.

    Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree

  • 2+ years of experience working with Housing Management Software (i.e. Star Rez, THD, Mercury, etc.)

  • 2+ years of experience working professionally within Residence Life, post-Baccalaureate

  • Supervision experience

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in a related field (Student Affairs, College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling, etc.)

  • Experience supervising professional staff

  • Experience working with StarRez, Maxient, and/or Banner.

  • Knowledge and/or experience in Residential Curriculum development

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including teams, publisher, etc.
