Duties: Cooks will be responsible for preparing, seasoning, and cooking soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other food items in a restaurant. Will report directly to the Director of Culinary Operations.
Optional housing is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis for workers who are relocating to begin employment. Cost of housing, if accepted, is $150.00 per week. If used, total cost of housing will be deducted from paycheck. Cost of housing includes utilities and a basic housing starter kit. Schedule: 40 hours per week. If voluntarily elected by worker, employee costs/contributions for benefits will be deducted from paycheck.
Employee will be required to wear a uniform to work. The employer will clean the uniforms for their employees. Any other employer provided benefits: medical, dental, and vision insurance, basic life insurance, and AD&D insurance.
Employer to provide transportation to and from multiple worksites in Suffolk county, from designated location: Employee Housing.
No education required. 6 months of culinary experience in a fine dining or high-volume environment at a high-end restaurant.
Work Days: Vary Sun-Sat, 7am-3pm, 40 hours/week at $23.00/hour. OT at $34.50/hour when available.
A single workweek will be used to compute wages due. Workers will be paid weekly on Friday.
All deductions from the worker's paycheck required by law will be made.
Employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job.
H-2B workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (excluding passport fees).
Transportation (including meals and, to the extent necessary, lodging) to the place of employment will be provided, or its cost to workers reimbursed, if the worker completes half the employment period. Return transportation will be provided if the worker completes the employment period or is dismissed early by the employer. Daily subsistence rates are $15.88/day without receipts or up to $59/day with receipts.
The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period.
