Peer Specialist
The Opportunity
The Peer Advocate will provide non-clinical support and advocacy services to individuals within Outpatient Treatment Programs through the appropriate disclosure of their lived experience. The Peer Advocate will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and provide services as documented on the treatment/recovery plan.
Responsibilities
Demonstrate understanding of the peer role. Utilize ?lived experience? to engage people from various settings into treatment. Provide support, encouragement and guidance in linking individuals to appropriate services.
Maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries with individuals.
Follow-up on treatment recommendations and referrals made by clinical staff and assist with adherence to treatment appointments. Provide warm handoffs to treatment providers and/or recovery support services and other community resources as indicated in the treatment plan.
Provide outreach, advocacy, mentoring and recovery support services to those seeking or sustaining recovery.
Collect any necessary data to assist in reporting to program, agency, and/or funding sources. Document services in program EHR following requirements set by OASAS and Medicaid.
Qualifications
H.S Diploma or Equivalent
Completion of 30 hours CCAR- Recovery Coach Academy plus 16 hours peer ethics training
CRPA, CRPA-P, or CRPA-P eligible
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Valid and clean driver's license required
Additional Information
Salary: $22.64/hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm with flexibility
