Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nurse Coordinator - Lactation, Days. In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for using own clinical expertise to provide breastfeeding education and counseling. The Lactation Coordinator works collaboratively with other health team professionals to promote breastfeeding management. The Lactation Coordinator provides leadership to the patient care team by mentoring and sharing current evidence-based information and clinical skills.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Manages department utilizing resources in fiscally responsible manner. Establishes reasonable budget projections for supplies, effectively manages fiscal responsibilities related to salaries and supplies. Prepares budgets and related reports in a comprehensive and timely manner, within established financial guidelines. Works to provide adequate staffing levels on each shift.
    • Models an open approach to information/knowledge sharing by providing interactive forums including monthly scheduled staff meetings including minutes and attendance sheets. Ensures staff participation in annual requirements.
    • Maintains clinical knowledge base appropriate to patient population. Maintains competencies; participates in activities/meetings/committees contributing to the growth and development of self, colleagues and the nursing profession. Obtains a minimum of 20 CEUs annually relative to specialty and role.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • Establishes, monitors, and evaluates standards of patient care specific to the individual patient care unit focusing on measurable outcomes. Consistently addresses patient care needs in a timely manner. Participates and/or promotes multidisciplinary process improvement activities for unit-specific and hospital-wide initiatives.
    • Actions demonstrate an understanding of individuals role and how it relates to the delivery of care/services in the organization. Demonstrates accountability with respect to staffing and scheduling. Practices, facilities and role models the principles of team building, delegation and communication.
    • Assists staff with developmental plan for professional growth. Oversees the orientation process of new employees including unit based and float pool staff. Maintains employee unit files as per WUH/HR guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Required. Current NYS Registered Nurse License Required. International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBLCE) Required. Excellent communication skills (both oral & written), interpersonal and organization skills Required. Basic Computer Knowledge Required. Knowledge of standards of practice for all areas of patient care Required.. Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $112,360.00 - $141,934.01 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
