The Human Resource Coordinator (HR Coordinator) is responsible for coordinating a wide range of human resource functions including recruiting, interviewing, on-boarding new hires, and ensuring employees are well informed of human resource policies and programs, and training to be successful in their roles at this organization. Supports time and attendance questions, benefits administration, maintains and updates employee records, completes assigned tax, insurance, and benefits reporting requirements, and ensures that all employee records and reporting are in compliance with federal and state regulations. The HR Coordinator will contribute to departmental efforts to continuously strengthen the employee experience and organizational culture; and support practices to effectively assimilate new employees into the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  1. Recruits, screens, interviews, recommends, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Ensures all hiring processes are effective and legally compliant.

  2. Conducts or acquires background checks, and employee eligibility verifications.

  3. Performs tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leaves of absence.

  4. Provides employees guidance with FMLA and Short-Term Disability requirements in accordance with Credit Union policies, regulatory and third-party vendor requirements.

  5. Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff

  6. Supports the organization’s payroll processing by providing payroll-related information to third party vendor on a bi-weekly basis (incentives, corrections, etc.). Answers questions and resolves employee concerns – escalating when necessary. Ensures that payroll functions are completed timely and in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.

  7. Makes recommendations for enhancements to human resource policies and procedures.

  8. Administers benefits programs, enrolls new participants and acts as liaison with benefits broker and employees. Troubleshoot and assist staff with concerns and communicates benefits updates as necessary.

  9. Supports the open enrollment process ensuring that employee communications are clear and reflect the organization’s commitment to creative a positive employee experience.

  10. Gathers information on employee requests, complaints, and problems courteously and promptly and escalates to the appropriate HR personnel.

  11. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

  12. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

  13. Act as a key role model for others by demonstrating support for HFCU culture of inclusiveness, respect, and appreciation.

  14. Champion the employee experience by developing positive relationships; committing to quality conversations, providing timely feedback, and promoting trust and authenticity.

  15. Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of organizational engagement events and initiatives, as needed. Supports employee communications (quarterly newsletter, email, etc.)

  16. Maintain competency base knowledge with respect to profession through a variety of means such as seminars, networking, trainings, and readings.

  17. Ensure human resource alignment with the support of Credit Union initiatives by actively participating on project teams.

  18. Ensure that knowledge management system technologies are up-to-date and working according to function.
